Adam Frost, 52, is now a veteran TV presenter thanks to his work on BBC’s Gardeners’ World. However, the star was not always sure the entertainment world was for him.
Before starring in the gardening programme, the designer’s previous experience on television did not convince him.
He spoke to his wife, Sulina, about his nerves and she managed to persuade him to continue his TV career.
Adam told The Telegraph: “I’d go home and say to Sulina, ‘I don’t think TV is for me’, but she’d say, ‘You were fine, just carry on’.”
The TV star recently shared a rare picture of his wife on his Instagram, causing a stir among fans.
He often prefers to keep his private life out of the public eye.
But the picture, shared earlier this month, showed the couple during a day out at Westonbirt Arboretum.
The sunny snap was shared with his 94,300 Instagram followers.
Adam wrote: “Today’s joy, a walk at Westonbirt Arboretum with my wonderful wife.”
In the photograph, he could be seen looking directly at the camera, while Sulina elegantly lent on a tree.
The presenter was wearing a checked shirt, while his wife donned a flowy paisley dress.
Adam and Sulina share four children Abi-Jade, Jacob, Amber-Lily, and Oakley.
In addition to starring in the gardening programme, he runs a garden school from home.
Earlier this year, the designer paid tribute to Geoff Hamilton, the late presenter who first worked with him in the show during the early years of his career.
Adam recounted how his co-star, who presented the programme in the 1980s and 1990s, confirmed what career path he wanted to follow.
Adam worked with Geoff when he was 21.
The late broadcaster died at 59 after suffering a heart attack during a charity bike ride in 1996.
Adam told House Beautiful: “I was incredibly lucky to get a job with the legendary Gardeners’ World presenter Geoff Hamilton when I was 21.
“Working for him had a huge influence on me and cemented my passion for plants.
“When I first appeared on Gardeners’ World, I received a text from Geoff’s widow, Linda, saying how proud of me he’d have been.
“I sat watching the programme with tears rolling down my cheeks.”
