Harry Redknapp’s football veterans Harry’s Heroes are returning for Europe tour

Harry Redknapp’s team of football veterans have reunited for a second after leg thrashing Germany earlier this year.

The former Spurs boss, 72, has revealed Harry’s Heroes will return to our TV screens to play teams in Italy and France – before a rematch against their old foes.

Harry said: “We have just come back from a week in Germany and we had a great time.

"Great players, Matt Le Tissier, all the boys who played for England.”

Five million tuned in to the ITV show as Le Tissier and other stars including Robbie Fowler, Paul Merson and Neil “Razor” Ruddock were trained back to fitness under the watchful eyes of Redknapp and ex-Liverpool ace John Barnes.

While some struggled with the rigorous diet and exercise plan, the England players manage to thump their middle-aged German counterparts 4-2 in the grand finale.

Merson moved viewers by breaking down over his gambling addiction while Ruddock was warned he could “drop dead at any minute”.

A doctor told him: “If I don’t intervene, you are at a risk of a heart attack and a stroke.”

Speaking at a lunch this week, Redknapp joked that the ex-Liverpool player hadn’t made the squad this time, quipping: “We did not have Razor Ruddock this year unfortunately.

  • Jamie Redknapp was listed for I'm A Celeb but quit over fear it'd kill his career

  • Moise Kean told he can make Italy's Euro 2020 squad- but he may need Everton exit

"He is about 28 stone, he couldn’t make it.”

But a show insider has confirmed that Ruddock, 51, will appear.

The series in expected to air on ITV next summer to tie in with Euro 2020.

Meanwhile, Harry's son Jamie Redknapp has said he was asked to do I'm a Celeb this year, but the pressure after his dad won the show last year was too much.

He told Metro.co.uk : "I got asked this year to do it, but not really, no. I’d be useless anyway.

"I’d show my true side which wouldn’t be good."

Be added that his father's success would create more pressure for him if he did go on the show, as people would expect him to behave the same way.

He also revealed he found it "bizarre' seeing Harry on the show and doing so well.
