Harrys pal Tom Bradbys Meghan interview that cost him his friendship with Prince William

Prince William reportedly had a close friendship with journalist Tom Bradby but that is said to have come to an end after an interview with Meghan Markle.

The breakdown came when the royal correspondent followed Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, in southern Africa for an ITV documentary entitled Harry and Meghan: An African journey.

During the 2019 programme Tom had a one-on-one chat with Meghan where he asked if she was okay. Meghan, who had recently welcomed first child Archie, thanked him for asking adding: "Not many people have asked if I’m ok … it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes." The moment was widely analysed and discussed after airing.

While Harry disclosed that he and his brother were "on different paths" during another interview.

This is thought to have damaged Tom's long-standing relationship with William, 40, as the future King felt that his brother's vulnerability had been taken advantage of, according to the Daily Mail.

Before the incident, the ITV journalist conducted Prince William and Kate Middleton's engagement interview, and attended their wedding. He also was present at Harry and Meghan's nuptials.

Tom has been chosen to conduct tonight's ITV interview, where Harry will discuss being unable to show public emotion following his mum's death and be questioned on the many bombshells from his book, Spare.

After filming the documentary Tom spoke about feeling caught in between the two royal brothers.

"I felt caught in the middle of them in that documentary – which is not a good place to be," he explained on Alan Titchmarch's Love Your Weekend ITV show.

He also spoke about the process of filming.

He said: "It was a very psychologically complex project. They were clearly in a difficult position and not feeling great.

"I realised the extent of that the more I was there."

Tom's wife Claudia Hill-Norton advised him on how to approach the situation. "I called my wife one night and she said stop being an idiot and start be a human being."

The couple reportedly helped Kate's sister Pippa with her book Celebrate.

Ahead of the interview, King Charles broke cover for the first time since Harry's initial revelations.
