Here’s how much the Dolan twins make on YouTube
The Dolan Twins, Ethan and Grayson, have amassed a whopping 10.6 million YouTube subscribers to date, which translates into some serious dough. The lovable comedy duo, whose weekly vlogs involve wild pranks, experiments, and the requisite collaborations with other famous online types like Jeffree Star and Emma Chamberlain, continues to go from strength to wacky strength.
The Dolans recently made the difficult decision to take a step back, telling fellow YouTuber Shane Dawson, in one of the most emotional videos by famous YouTubers, that the recent death of their father, as well as a non-stop work schedule, had soured them on constantly producing content just for the sake of it. Still, if this really is the end for the Dolan twins, they’ve got plenty of hard-earned cash to fall back on.
YouTube has been hugely profitable for the Dolan twins
Nailbuzz calculates that, based on their current subscriber level and over 1 billion in accumulated views, the twins’ channel gets on average 1.3 million views daily, which should generate around $5,200 per day — or $2 million per year — in income from ads alone.
On average, YouTubers earn between $2 to $10 per 1,000 monetized views (after the site takes its cut, of course), which range from 40 percent to 60 percent of total views on each video they upload. Several factors, including which device the video is played on, affect the total income earned.
Google Preferred enables richer companies to target ads in the top 5 percent of the most popular content across YouTube. Ad rates are naturally higher in these cases. YouTube Red views also count towards total income earned, where, the longer someone watches a video, the more money the creator makes from it.
The Dolan twins don't have to rely on YouTube anymore
As Seventeen calculated, a recent video of Grayson Dolan getting his wisdom teeth removed earned the guys a staggering $28,671 alone. It’s worth noting, too, that the Dolans have extra cash coming in via branding deals and touring. They also, unlike many of their contemporaries, have their own site selling all the Dolan Twins merchandise anybody could ever want, which is definitely bringing in plenty more money for them.
Nailbuzz puts their current net worth at $5 million, while Seventeen calculates slightly less, at $4 million — either way, it’s a serious chunk of change. Suffice to say, if the guys really are saying goodbye to being regular YouTubers, it’s unlikely they’ll have to get regular jobs like the rest of us to make ends meet any time soon.
