Escape to the Chateau star Dick Strawbridge has admitted the past year has been “different” with wife Angel Adoree. He opened up about how lockdown has impacted their family at their French chateau in a new interview.

Dick explained how he and Angel haven’t been immune to the impacts of the pandemic.

He made the admission on Zoe Ball’s Breakfast show this morning on BBC Radio 2.

Zoe asked: “Dick, how was lockdown over in France?

“I mean for you two I imagine there is always something to be doing in the chateau. But, was it tough out there?”

Dick replied to the BBC presenter: “It was! It has been, interestingly, and it’s been a year and a half.

“It’s been very different. But the thing is, there’s always something to do.

“So it’s not like we’ve been confined – there’s so much space and doing things with the children.

“We’ve been quite lucky, as a family I think we’ve come through it well.”

The Escape to the Chateau presenter then added how they’ve been helped by having relatives close by as well.

He continued: “Of course we’ve got Angela’s mum and dad living across in the coach house.

“So we’ve got a family unit here, which sort of has support, which is very lucky indeed.”

The pair were speaking ahead of this week’s episode of Escape to the Chateau Make Do and Mend.

The new show sees the pair working with guests remotely to help them with their DIY projects.

Elsewhere, Dick has been opening up about the “brutal” age difference between him and Angel.

Speaking about the 20-year difference to the Telegraph, he said: “Angela only has so many years of me before I turn my toes up, that’s a brutal fact.”

Angel then added: “I have asked for 30 more years.”

Dick then explained how he plans to be buried near his beautiful home in France.

He continued: “There is no doubt I am going to be planted somewhere here.

“And meanwhile, we are just doing what we do.

“As we keep saying to viewers, anybody can do whatever they set out to do if they just go for it.”
