Kate Middleton has been ‘huge support to William during a difficult time’

The Princess of Wales has been a "huge support" to her husband Prince William after he "lost his support" from his brother Prince Harry, Katie Nicholl exclusively reveals to OK!.

Katie has shared that Kate, 40, has been supporting William, also 40, after a "difficult" time with Harry stepping back as a senior royal alongside his wife Meghan Markle.

“The last couple of years have been challenging. We’ve had the brothers falling out and Megxit and I think it has been difficult for William,” Katie says.

“He’s lost his support act in Harry but he really recognises that he has an invaluable support act in Kate."

Katie added: "I think they are equally proud of each other but they‘ve really needed to be there for each other over these last couple of years and I think Kate has been a huge support at a time when he really needed it.”

The royal author then said that Kate's success as a royal comes down to being a hands-on mother and supporting William.

Katie says: "She hasn’t been afraid to show us that image of herself as a royal mother.

"What I think is her great success is being there as a future Queen Consort, supporting William and being a hands-on mum and managing to juggle all these roles."

It comes after Kate's uncle Gary Goldsmith hit back at Harry and Meghan's claims about his niece on their Netflix docuseries.as he spoke to presenter Dan Wootton, 39.

Gary described his niece as an "exceptional" human being, insisting the Princess of Wales is, in fact, a hugger after Meghan, 41, suggested the opposite.

Meghan shares on camera: "I'm a hugger I've always been a hugger. I didn't know that could be jarring for a lot of Brits. I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality out on the outside, carried through on on the inside."

Gary said: "I just find that almost laughable. Kate is just lovely," he shared, before gushing over her warmth and "classy" nature.

Dan went on to share a clip of Harry, 38, saying: "I think for so many people in the family, especially obviously the men, there can be a temptation or an urge to marry someone who would fit the mould as opposed to somebody who you perhaps are destined to be with."

The host then asked Gary: "Of course, the clear indication here is that he followed his heart by marrying Meghan and William had followed his head by marrying Kate. But you have seen them together away from the cameras, are they really in love?"

Gary went on to reveal it is a "very natural relationship", adding: "They are very comfortable with each other and they tease each other, which I think is a great tell tale that people get on – when they can have fun at each other's expense.

"It's done in a very tongue in cheek, very loving way. Touchy feely."
