Kelly Clarkson advises Taylor Swift to re-record music amid Scooter Braun drama
Kelly Clarkson is #TeamSwift.
The “Medicine” singer, 37, gave Swift some advice amid her ongoing drama with Scooter Braun, who recently purchased her former record label, Big Machine Records, and acquired her masters.
“@taylorswift13 just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don’t own the masters on exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions,” Clarkson tweeted. “I’d buy all of the new versions just to prove a point ??♀️”
Though that may be an option, a source previously told Page Six that it’s likely Swift’s new deal with Universal Music Group prevents her from re-recording old music. We were also told that the “You Need to Calm Down” songstress, 29, had numerous opportunities to buy back her master but “decided to walk away.”
“In the 10 months since, she hasn’t reached out once, so how passionate could she have been about them?” the insider said.
A separate music industry insider also told Page Six that Swift was caught “playing the victim” again.
“Everyone knows she’s playing the victim. She has five homes, a private jet. She even summons her boyfriend [UK actor Joe Alwyn],” the insider shared with us. “She sends a jet to London to pick him up and bring him to her when she needs him.”
The source pointed out that Swift comes from a family of finance pros, and her dad, Scott, is a Big Machine shareholder.
“She’s omitting the fact that someone acquired the company. She could’ve bought it!” exclaimed a source of the deal. “Her dad is a multimillionaire shareholder. It’s a business transaction, and she’s making it all about her.”
