Kevin Hart Expected to Be Released From Hospital Within Hours, to Head Straight to Rehab
The ‘Ride Along’ star will spend 1 to 2 weeks in an inpatient physical therapy facility before he returns home after the horrific car crash that left him with three spinal fractures.
AceShowbiz –Kevin Hart may be out of the hospital sooner than later after undergoing a surgery to repair his multiple spinal fractures. The comedian/actor, who has been hospitalized since the car crash on Sunday, September 1, is expected to be released within hours, according to TMZ.
Sources tell the site that the “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” star initially hoped that he would be released on Tuesday, September 10. Now that there’s still no sign that Kevin has been released from the hospital on Tuesday, the sources say that it will definitely happen on Wednesday.
Kevin, however, won’t be able to return home yet. He will reportedly head straight to an inpatient physical therapy facility, where he will spend 1 to 2 weeks before he comes back home. “He’s super eager to get out,” one of the sources says of the funnyman, adding that he’s in pretty good spirits.
Tiffany Haddish previously gave an update on Kevin’s condition at the hospital, saying that he’s already walking, although he’s still in a lot of pain. “He’s OK. He’s doing fine. As far as I know, from the last I heard, he’s fine,” the “Girls Trip” star said. “He’s already walking. He’s good.”
TMZ additionally reports that Kevin is taking short walks in the hospital and can even climb a few steps. He’s getting PT in the hospital but it will be more intensive in the rehab facility.
Kevin fractured his spine in three places during the horrific car crash, two of which were in the thoracic section of his spine and another was in the lumbar. He is considered lucky despite his serious injuries, because lumbar fractures can often result in at least difficulties walking, and at worst, partial paralysis of the arms or legs.
The 40-year-old is expected to make a full recovery, though “it’s gonna be a long road back.” He will reportedly require weeks if not months of physical rehabilitation.
In related news, TMZ reports that Kevin’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda will be disassembled by the California Highway Patrol to determine the cause of the crash. The process will take three weeks, one week for taking the car apart and 2-3 weeks for evaluating the evidence and writing a report.
