Line of Duty star Stephen Graham offered to adopt one of his child co-stars after his mum tragically died from cancer, it has been revealed.
The 47 year old starred alongside Thomas Turgoose in This Is England in 2006, when the then-child actor was just 13.
Thomas played the film's lead character Shaun Fields, who was inducted into a gang of skinheads – including sociopath Combo, played by Stephen, who most recently starred in BBC drama Time.
Shortly after filming wrapped on the movie, which won Best British Film at the 2007 British Academy Film Awards, Thomas' mother Sharon tragically lost her battle with cancer.
This Is England was dedicated to Sharon, who was sadly not alive to see her son acting on the big screen.
Thomas, who is now aged 29, has opened up on how the bond he formed with Stephen on set led him to offer to adopt his co-star after the tragedy.
Speaking on Made In Chelsea stars Jamie Laing & Francis Boulle's Private Parts podcast, Thomas said: "My mum passed away from lung cancer after I finished filming This Is England.
"She never got to see the finished film. [Director] Shane Meadows dedicated the film to my mum.
"Stephen Graham promised my mum he’d look out for me. Everyone involved in This is England are family to me."
Thomas was set to go and live with his father, but he did not know him very well.

He added: "When my mum died I moved in with my dad and I didn't know him, so Shane Meadows and Steven Graham were going to adopt me if things didn't work out with my dad."
Luckily, all did go well with Thomas, and he reunited with his This Is England co-stars at his 2018 New Year's Eve wedding to long-term partner Charlotte Revell.
Discussing the turn around in his life, Thomas continued: "I was destined for prison. Shoplifting things I didn't need. There was a hardware store in Grimsby that I used to steal spray paint from for no reason."
