Loose Womens Brenda Edwards to replace Gemma Collins in Chicago musical
Brenda Edwards is set to replace Gemma Collins as Mama Morton in the musical Chicago after the former TOWIE star pulled out due to an injury.
The Loose Women panellist, 53, who recently revealed she speaks to her late son Jamal "every day", will be reprising the role in which she made her West End debut over a decade ago.
She first appeared as Mama Morton back in 2007 at the Adelphi Theatre after competing on The X Factor.
Presenter Brenda will join the cast for dates available across June and July at Sunderland Empire, Winter Gardens Blackpool, Sheffield Lyceum Theatre, Norwich Theatre Royal and New Theatre Oxford.
The exciting news comes after The GC, 41, had no choice but to pull out of the UK tour due to a knee injury.
Back in March, it was announced that the former The Only Way Is Essex star would take on the role of Mama Morton.
However, just one week out from her big debut at the Sunderland Empire Theatre, a spokesperson for the production confirmed that she had quit.
A statement made to OK! said: "Gemma Collins' management have informed the producers of Chicago she will no longer be appearing in the UK Tour of the show due to a knee injury."
It was added: "The producers of Chicago wish Gemma all the best for the future."
"Gemma is absolutely gutted she’s had to pull out of Chicago," a friend of the star told The Sun, adding: "She has been in floods of tears and is inconsolable."

They added that Gemma "knew her lines off by heart" but was also aware that her knee wouldn't be able to take the "gruelling schedule".
While Gemma has yet to publicly comment on her leaving the production, she did share a short clip of her receiving treatment for her swollen knee.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday morning, the reality star shared a clip of her receiving treatment on her knee at the Ice Health Cryotherapy Spa.
"Early morning session for my knee, I can't describe the pain," she wrote. "Thank you Alla for relieving my pain."
She added: "My leg has ballooned with my knee, hopefully this will take the swelling down."
