Martin Roberts, 57, revealed he hasn’t come across that many “rude” property owners when he’s spoken to them about their houses on Homes Under The Hammer. Having hosted the BBC show for 13 years, it came as a pleasant surprise to some fans and a huge relief for him.
Possibly only one or two people in the whole time of the show
During his Monday Twitter Q&A session, as usual the presenter encouraged his followers to send him any queries, whether they be about the show or something else entirely.
One avid watched wanted to know whether he had encountered any hostile property owners during his time, and luckily the answer was negative.
“Have you came across anyone who was really rude/upset when you were interviewing them about their properties on HUTH?” they asked.
After having a think, he soon replied: “No, not generally.
“Possibly only one or two people in the whole time of the show.”
But it wasn’t just the owners fans wondered about, it was the buyers too.
Martin recently explained how he deals with “questionable” buyers, where on some occasions they have raised his brows.
However, with his years of knowledge about the property business under his belt, he remains confident he can always point them in the right direction.
And with 18 years of presenting experience as well, he’s learned to keep his reactions professional.
“Ever met someone doing the homes and think your a t*t,” one viewer quizzed.
“Even though you have to be polite.”
After a short while, Martin replied with an honest answer, admitting: “Sometimes people make questionable decisions, which I might respond to with a raised eyebrow.
“But I’ll try and guide people in the right direction if I can.”
Another fan had a pressing question about the programme, and how it affects Martin’s wardrobe choices.
The host is known for his jazzy fashion sense, usually spotted donning flowery shirts, exaggerated lapels and fancy shoes, and isn’t a stranger to a statement jacket either.
But a good sense of style comes with issues while searching rougher locations, with overgrown gardens or unkept and rundown interiors.
Worried about how many pairs of shoes he goes through, the viewer asked: “Martin, don’t you ruin your nice shoes in some of these locations?”
Laughing, the presenter responded: “I do indeed!
“Shoes with good soles are a must for some of the rougher properties.”
Homes Under The Hammer airs weekdays at 10am on BBC One.
