Megan Thee Stallion Has a Plan to Help Her Classmates Find Jobs

The rap industry has previously been male-dominated. However, Megan Thee Stallion is working to change that.

She has quickly become the talk of the rap industry and is serving as an inspiration to other women with a dream of being a rapper. Fans love Stallion for her one-of-a-kind style, fun dance moves, and mad rapping skills.

Despite her busy music career, Stallion still makes completing her college degree a priority.

Recap on Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion was born Megan Javon Ruth Pete and is from Houston, Texas. The 25-year-old American rapper is making her mark on the industry. The world first took notice of the up and coming rapper with her viral freestyle rap over Drake‘s “4 pm in Calabasas.”

Then her years of freestyle performing paid off in 2018 with her first Billboard chart-topping hit “Big Ole Freak,” which brought her widespread attention. Now, Stallion is considered one of the hottest rappers with other hits, including her recent collaboration with Beyoncé, “Savage Remix.”

Her strong-willed mindset and admiring work ethic that she attributes to being around generations of powerful women will help do great things. In an interview with People, Stallion recalled, “I’ve always seen strong women making it work, so I’ve always wanted to have that same drive the women in my family have. I know I get a lot of my strength from my mother and both of my grandmothers.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s college career

With the release of her EP Suga earlier this year, you would think she wouldn’t have time to focus on her bachelor’s degree in health administration. However, the rapper continues taking courses at Texas Southern University.

With the quick rise of her success, she now is only going part-time with a full online only schedule. She hopes to complete her coursework by next year and is planning an over-the-top graduation party to celebrate. A promise to her late mother and grandmother gives her the drive needed to finish her degree. Megan Thee Stallion’s mom, Holly Thomas, has been an inspiration to the star in both her educational and rapping career.

Thomas was also a rapper and passed away in 2019, after battling brain cancer. Thomas and her grandmother, which she refers to as “big mama” both passed within a short time of each other, but were able to see Megan going to college before their deaths. Therefore, she wants to get her degree to make them proud.

Also, as she revealed in an interview with Peopleher living grandmother used to be a teacher, so Stallion says, “She’s on my butt about finishing school. I’m doing it for me, but I’m also doing it for the women in my family who made me who I am today.”

During the same interview, Megan Thee Stallion offered this piece of advice to encourage students around the country, “College is a lot of stress. You can’t let that little [GPA] number discourage you.” She continued “You worked hard enough to complete school, so I know that you can work hard enough to complete whatever your next goal in life is.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s plan for helping her classmates

After graduation, Stallion wants to help classmates get jobs in the Houston area by opening an assisted-living facility with the money she earns from rapping.

She knows how hard it is to get a job after college, and thought it would be, “super easy” for her classmates to get a job at it. During an interview with Billboard, Stallion recaps her plans to help her community while still being able to follow her rapping passion.

“I knew I didn’t want to be a nurse. And once I started getting super popular with my music, I knew I probably wasn’t going to go to medical school. And then blood kind of makes me a little squeamish, so I was like, I don’t want to touch nobody. But I want to run the hospital. I don’t want to do the dirty work, but I definitely want to put it there for people to come and help others.”
