Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan has been reunited with his co-star and friend Kate Garraway for the first time in six months. The last time the ITV host, 56, saw his GMB co-star was when he was fulfilling his presenting duties on the popular ITV breakfast show. In a celebratory Instagram post, Piers revealed he had not seen Kate since he left the morning programme in early March, but has since been vocal in his support for her while her husband Derek Draper continues his battle with long Covid.
First time we’ve seen each other since I left GMB
In view of his 7.9 million followers, Piers celebrated being back together with his friend.
He wrote: “Reunited!
“First time we’ve seen each other since I left @gmb.”
The star accompanied the post with a sweet snap of him and Kate sharing a warm embrace at the Who Cares Wins event last night in London.
The event sees the NHS partner with Channel 4 and The Sun to thank healthcare and key workers, as well as ordinary people, who have helped the UK get through a challenging year.
Attending the event, Kate stunned in a glamorous, floor length black dress.
Featuring a multi-coloured metallic pattern, the ITV newsreader dazzled amongst the star-studded line-up.
Kate wore her hair in her signature blow-dried, chic bob and kept her make-up simple.
She accessoried with a pair of glam statement earrings, as well as multiple rings.
Piers could have seen his former co-star at last week’s NTAs in London, however, the former newspaper editor was not in attendance.
Following Kate’s National Television Award win for Finding Derek, her documentary detailing her husband’s battle with Covid, Piers took to social media to reveal that “people have no idea” about what the star is really going through.
Piers wrote: “Love her. @kategarraway. One of the bravest, most inspiring people I’ve ever known.
“People have no idea of the true hell she’s going through because she’s always putting others first & never complains.”
“Just pray her Derek comes out the other side,” he ended the tweet.
Kate landed an NTA in the Authored Documentary category for her documentary about her family and how they’ve coped with Derek’s illness.
The programme follows Kate, her two children Darcey and Billy, and her husband, who spent over a year in hospital after contracting coronavirus.
Back in March, Piers clashed with ITV weather reporter Alex Beresford following Meghan Markle’s comments in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, which resulted in him storming off the set.
The Duchess of Sussex claimed that her mental health had suffered as a member of the royal family, to which the GMB host said he “didn’t believe” her.
Hours later, ITV released a statement confirming the presenter’s departure from the show after six years of fronting it alongside Susanna Reid.
Following Piers’ comments, Ofcom received a record-breaking 58,000 complaints, which the regulator has now dismissed, ruling that the former newspaper editor did not breach their code of conduct with his comments about the former Suits actress.
