Prince Harry shares a household habit with his father, Prince Charles, which his wife, Meghan Markle, finds odd, it has emerged.

Although the Duke of Sussex, 36, and the 72 year old Prince of Wales are reportedly at loggerheads, they will forever be connected by the habit – which involves light switches.

In a 2018 documentary to mark Charles' 70th birthday, Harry opened up on their common habit, which was also passed on to his older brother, Prince William.

The sweet programme, named Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, saw William discuss how he wishes his three children were able to spend more time with their grandfather, and Harry open up on asking Charles to walk Meghan down the aisle at their 2018 wedding.

Giving an insight into their home life, Harry said of their strange habit: "He's a stickler for turning lights off.

"And that's now something that I'm obsessed with as well, which is insane because actually, my wife goes 'Well, why turn the lights off? You know it's dark'.

"I go 'we only need one light, we don't need like six', and all of a sudden, it becomes a habit and those small habit changes he's making, every single person can do. And I think that's one of the key lessons certainly that I felt that he taught us."

William discussed his own experience with the habit, telling viewers: "I know I've got serious OCD on light switches now which is terrible."

Harry also admitted that Charles had taught him to always litter pick, joking: "I used to get taken the mickey out of at school for just picking up rubbish.

"I don't go consciously looking for it. When you go for walks anywhere, if you see something, it stands out, you pick it up.
