Rick Springfield Teams Up With Coheed And Cambria For ‘Jessie’s Girl’ Sequel

Pop icon Rick Springfield has teamed up with progressive rock band Coheed And Cambria to create a sequel to his 1981 smash hit “Jessie’s Girl.”

“Jessie’s Girl 2” sees Springfield finally catching up with the titular girl only to discover that “she’s out of her mind.”

Coheed And Cambria began toying with the idea of a “Jessie’s Girl” sequel while in the studio back in 2019 and later fleshed out the song before pitching it to Springfield over Instagram Live.

“Has anyone ever written a sequel to another artist’s song? I don’t think so,” said Coheed And Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez.

“As a fan of movies, it just seemed like a really interesting idea,” he added. “It’s kind of like a National Lampoon movie meets So I Married an Axe Murderer.”

Springfield appears in the recently released video for “Jessie’s Girl 2” and even provides vocals on the new track.
