Rylan reveals he attempted suicide after his marriage ended due to him cheating
Rylan Clark has opened upabout the end of his six year marriage, due to infidelity, and the impact this had on his mental health.
The TV presenter says that his mental health got so bad that he ended up attempting suicide, which he is now glad he was unsuccessful at.
The 33 year old revealed that he had cheated on ex-husband Dan Neal years ago, but only confessed this to him in May 2021, which ultimately led to Dan walking out on the six year marriage.
Rylan has opened up about his mental health struggles, and life in general, in his new book Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, which is set to be published next week on Tuesday 27 September.
Speaking about his divorce, Rylan said: “For the first time in my 32 years, I felt I couldn’t carry on no more.
“‘What’s the point?’ I thought. I’d lost what I thought was everything, the one thing I always wanted. A man I loved. A family of my own. And now it was gone.
“So I tried to end it. I won’t go into detail as I don’t think it’s fair on my mum, but thank God I was unsuccessful.”
Following this, the popular TV personality, admitted himself to hospital and took a five-month career break.
Attending a book talk at Royal Festival Hall, Rylan has discussed his own infidelity, saying: “I have no excuses for what I did way back then, but I had my reasons.
“I think for many years I had felt a bit like an imposter. That nothing I was doing was right or not quite good enough.”
At the same event the former Big Brother’s Bit On the Sidepresenter discussed the physical health problemshe has faced in the last couple of years.
He said: “Twice last year I ended up in the back of an ambulance because my heart failed.
“I just remember the shot going in and all of a sudden this feeling from the middle of your body, both ways, almost takes you over, and you just stop and my heart stopped.
“There's just seven faces and this bright light just looking at me. And then I took a breath. And they were like, 'He's in a normal rhythm'.
“I was like, 'What the f**k is going on?'”
This terrifying experience formed just one part of a harrowing 2021 for the star – with his family believing the pain he was experiencing was due to heartbreak and not a serious health problem.
However Rylan’s heart issue was anything but a simple heartache, as his heart rate soared to a dangerously fast 248 BPM, more than double the upper limit of an average heart rate.
