Shania Twain throws it back to the 1990s with leopard print People’s Choice look
Shania Twain threw it back to 1997 – and looked incredible in the process – at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards this week.
The singer wore an eye-catching leopard print outfit which was strikingly similar to the dress she wore in her iconic music video for That Don’t Impress Me Much.
Her outfit even featured a hood which was almost identical to the one she sported in the 1997 video – but this time around, the 57 year old went for stunning, ab-flashing sheer panelling and a black skirt instead of all-out animal print.
Speaking about her original iconic look on the red carpet, Shania told reporters: “I’ve enjoyed creating fashion moments in many of my music videos over the years.”
The star, who was picking up the Music Icon award at the Us event, added: “I think, for celebrating the influence that I may have had on popular culture, it makes me smile when I think back at the very first videos that I made, especially the denim on denim.”
And revealing how she created many of her iconic looks from scratch early on in her career, she said: “I mean, I just went through my closet, picked out whatever I had or I went to a department store and picked out the budget things because they didn’t have a big budget.
“And you know, what with a sharp pair of scissors and a big imagination…I just pulled and chopped and hoped for the best.”
Shania no longer needs to worry about handcrafting outfits though, as her latest ensemble was a custom Rodarte gown.
When the People's Choice Awards ceremony got underway, Shania performed a medley of her classic tracks before picking up her accolade.
Donning a skin-tight jumpsuit bedazzled in crystals, the singer wowed the audience as she took to the main stage sporting bubblegum pink hair for a mash-up including Man… I Feel Like A Woman! and That Don’t Impress Me Much.
Much to the amusement of attendees, including the Kardashians, Shania switched Brad Pitt’s name for another actors in the latter hit.
“So, you’re Ryan Reynolds?” she sang, as the shocked Deadpool actor laughed.
He could even be seen mouthing: “Oh my god, me?”
Shania then gave a heartfelt speech as she collected her Music Icon accolade, remembering her late mother, thanking fans and telling them to “be the queen of you”.
Other famous faces pictured on the People’s Choice red carpet on Tuesday included Carmen Electra, Billie Porter and Carrie Underwood.
