In March this year, the actor’s personal trainer Nick Lower uploaded a topless snap of the star on social media which showcased his six pack and slender arms.
As well as giving a break down of Simon’s fitness statistics, Nick wrote: ‘#SimonPegg 6 month body transformation for #InheritanceMovie The brief for this role was lean, VERY lean. It required a specific body shape & look.’
Fans were divided about the actor’s dramatic transformation, with some fans left impressed, while many of them expressed their concern that he had slimmed down too much and needed to eat.
Speaking to the publication about everyone’s reaction, Simon explained: ‘The response from that picture was so weird.

He added that many people, including his wife thought he ‘looked ill’, while others congratulated him and said ‘well done’ on his fitness.
He continued: ‘And the thing is, it wasn’t meant to be an aspirational thing. It was a snapshot that my trainer took and I really didn’t expect the furore that followed. All I can think of is that people still think of me as that schlubby guy from Shaun Of The Dead.’
Simon’s new appearance is different to how his fans will be used to seeing him in other films such as Paul and Run Fatboy Run.
In 2007 film Run Fatboy Run, Pegg famously played out-of-shape Dennis, who can barely find the motivation to work out.

As well as his body changes, the star also discussed overcoming his addition to alcohol, stating that he couldn’t ‘rely’ on any sort of stimulant to make himself ‘feel better’, nor could he expect it to ‘solve anything’.

Simon, who has been married to wife Maureen McCann since 2005.
