Teresa Giudice signed a prenup with no-cheat clause before marrying Joe
Teresa and Joe Giudice may have an uglier divorce than anticipated.
On Wednesday night’s episode of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” Teresa — who separated from Joe earlier this year — revealed that she signed a prenup before their 1999 wedding, and that the document included a clause against cheating.
“A week before we were getting married, Joe asked me to sign a prenup and I just felt when you love someone, you don’t do that,” Teresa, 47, explained in a confessional, noting that she initially “wasn’t going to go through it.”
But, she said, “Being Italian, I have old-school parents, and it’s an embarrassing thing to call off a wedding.”
Eventually, she agreed to sign the prenup if Joe, 47, added a clause to void the agreement if there was infidelity in their marriage.
“I didn’t even read it. I just said, ‘I want you to put one thing in there. If you ever cheat, the prenup is void,’” she said.
The couple, who share daughters Gia, 18, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 14, and Audriana, 10, split in December after 20 years of marriage. Their marriage was plagued with infidelity rumors, although both sides denied cheating on each other.
Joe is currently living in his native Italy as he waits for a judge to rule on his deportation case appeal. He was sentenced to be deported after he served a 41-month sentence for bankruptcy fraud, conspiracy to commit mail fraud, wire fraud and failing to pay taxes. Teresa also served time for fraud, spending less than a year behind bars.
Meanwhile, Teresa was recently spotted cozying up to her ex Anthony Delorenzo.
The couple has not announced any plans to divorce yet.
