Tupac And Afeni Shakur Docuseries To Air On FX
FX has announced the filming of a docuseries that tells the story of rap icon Tupac Shakur and his activist mother Afeni Shakur.
The five-part series, titled “Outlaw: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur,” will be directed by Allen Hughes.
The documentary will tell the story of “the most inspiring and dangerous mother-son duo in American history, whose unified message of freedom, equality, persecution and justice are more relevant today than ever,” FX said in a press release.
As part of its expansion into non-fiction programming, the basic cable network also announced five other projects – four shows and a feature documentary.
“FX has long sought to give artists a platform to showcase their individual, uncompromising vision and its new docuseries and features are an opportunity to extend that ambition in our collaboration with non-fiction talent,” said FX original programming president Nick Grad.
