A-COLD-WALL* Injects Architectural Codes Into Mackintosh's Staple RAINTEC Outerwear

Samuel Ross‘ London-based label A-COLD-WALL* and the Glaswegian imprint Mackintosh are back together again for Spring/Summer 2022, this time around producing a collaborative capsule centered on technical enhancements and an elevation on what their first offering delivered.

A signature mac silhouette stands as this season’s hero piece, sporting a single-breasted wrap-front and concealed button design with a dual insignia gracing the chest and more branding appearing in a spray-painted form on the rear. For something less formal, A-COLD-WALL* reworks Mackintosh’s waist-length pullover kagool, as well as a structured coach jacket, and throughout the collection, you’ll find a focus on the coat maker’s proprietary RAINTEC fabric.

The material is an updated and technical reworking of bonded cotton that’s combined with a performance membrane to offer waterproofing, windproofing and breathability when being worn in harsh conditions. Tones of black and slate gray or reef green and slate gray combine to mark out architectural lines on the coats, serving as a nod to A-COLD-WALL*’s design language that’s often structured and informed by geometry.

A-COLD-WALL*’s Mackintosh collaboration releases on the former’s webstore today and at Mackintosh on March 31. Take a closer look at the collection above.
