BAPE and Mastermind JAPAN Team With Dr. Martens for a 1461 Oxford Collaboration
Dr. Martens continues to make a brawny impact in the field of collaborations as it has already delivered capsules with the likes of CLOT, Bodega, atmos and more this year. To ring in the Summer season, the British footwear company is recruiting BAPE and mastermind JAPAN for a three-way collaboration of the 1461 Oxford.
This particular project combines signature elements from each party involved, making for a celebratory connection between the east and west. The 1461 keeps all of its original design cues including that of the smooth, black leather uppers, the exposed yellow stitchings, yellow-stitched heel tab and the air-cushioned sole units. The graphics is where this variation really gets playful as BAPE‘s iconic “shark mouth” latches onto the left foot’s lateral panel and the right side’s medial wall. mastermind JAPAN makes its mark on the boots by adorning the right shoe’s lateral and left foot’s medial with its traditional skull-and-crossbone print. Dog tags that call out each imprint are packaged with the kicks along with ‘mastermind JAPAN’ and ‘A BATHING APE®’ lace charms and tri-branded insoles.
Dr. Martens and select retailers will be dropping these come June 26 for $230 USD.
For more footwear news, JJJJound and Dr. Martens are expected to release a collaboration later this year.
