GrowthRing & Supply's "SAVE THE DRAGON" Collection Celebrates Hong Kong's Kowloon Peninsula

Launched last year, GrowthRing & Supply has now returned with the latest installment of its Project Rising series. Established to empower, Project Rising aims to spread the “Rise Up” message globally through collaborations with artists, designers and creative units.

Dubbed “SAVE THE DRAGON,” Drop 05 of the series with local Hong Kong creative Sonic Lam on an apparel collection and 1977 Toyota Celica restoration centered around an illustration of “the dragon.” A reference to Hong Kong’s Kowloon peninsula, which translates to “nine dragons,” the traditional Meiji Period Japanese painting depicts a dragon through artful brushstrokes that express the strength and benevolence of the mythological creature. Amidst a chaotic scene, the dragon can be seen floating above the overcast and thunderbolts symbolizing the “TOGETHER WE WILL RISE AGAIN” spirit of Project Rising.

For Project Rising Drop 05 “SAVE THE DRAGON,” GrowthRing & Supply chose to introduce the illustration through a restoration of a 1977 Toyota Celica. Outfitted with a fully rebuilt engine complete with an aluminum radiator, racing clutch and custom-made strut, the car also received a full visual revamp. Accenting the TRD (Toyota Racing Development) race configuration wide-body with bronze racing stripes supported by work equip wheels, the hood has been wrapped internally with the “SAVE THE DRAGON” illustration.

Leading the accompanying apparel collection is the REVERSIBLE JACQUARD KIMONO, a take on the traditional-kimono styled fireman suit. Made from a woven cotton fabric with oversized sleeves and waist tie fastening, the piece is reversible for varied wear options. Accompanying styles include the REVERSIBLE VIETNAM JUMPER, OVERSIZED PHOTO PRINT SHIRT and HEAVY WEIGHT WASHED LONG SLEEVE TEE. Rounding up the release are lifestyle items like the WOVEN JACQUARD RUG, MOTOR VEHICLES LICENSE STICKER and FRAGRANCE CAR TAG.
