Notre's Nike Dunk Collaboration Draws Influences From Community-Driven Attitude and Workwear
Based out in Chicago, IL, beloved retailer Notre has been given the lucky opportunity to collaborate on the ever-classic Nike Dunk High this year. Official images for both the “Blue Void” and “Light Orewood Brown” installments have recently surfaced, but the Swoosh has now finally announced the two-part capsule’s backstory and official release information.
In many ways, Michael Jaworowski — co-founder of the Windy City-based shop — credits the Dunk as responsible for his interests and career trajectory. It was in his days growing up that after he spotted a red/silver Nike SB Dunk in the wild, his love for the silhouette was sparked, and eventually lead him working at Premier skate shop in Grand Rapids to later on opening up his own storefront which we now know as Notre.
Since then, Jaworowski alongside his co-founder Jose Villanueva have made efforts in cultivating a store/brand that not only sells beautiful products but is driven by community. This Dunk collaboration is simply a reflection of that, and the owners’ affinity for workwear.
When speaking on the design process, Villanueva states, “We were always inspired by work shirts, and we wanted to make sure we represented durable materials and the triple-stitch details we associate with hard-wearing clothing and boots.” Everything from the shaggy suede and leather materials to the signature linking hands details is what really makes the project special and true to brand’s ethos.
Both colorways of Nike x Notre Dunk collection are set to drop exclusively at Notre January 21, while a second release of the blue iteration will follow on January 23 via SNKRS.
For more on the latest in kicks, a new Nike Air Max 95 colorway inspired by Japan’s street signs has been unveiled.
