Several McDonald's Japan Branches Remove Hash Browns From Menu Due to Ongoing Potato Shortage

Several McDonald’s Japan branches have announced that it will temporarily stop selling hash browns due to the country’s ongoing potato shortage.

According to reports, the fast food chain confirmed the removal of hash browns from the menu via notices in some of its branches around the country. McDonald’s Japan shared that the damage of flooding at the port of Vancouver and the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the supply chain of imported potatoes from the United States.

The temporary suspension of hash browns took effect about a month after McDonald’s Japan announced that it will stop selling medium and large french fries.

A representative for the fast food chain, however, explained that regular sales may resume by mid-January, but the shortage of fries will most likely continue beyond that time frame.
