The eight-part drama will be produced by Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee, the same team behind hit Netflix thriller The Stranger; another adaptation of Coben’s work that aired earlier this year.
Cash Jumbo, Cold Feet’s James Nesbitt and Richard Armitage (who also starred in The Stranger) play a trio of characters whose comfortable lives are thrown into turmoil after a long-lost secret comes back to haunt them.
Broadchurch’s Sarah Parish, Eddie Izzard, Jo Joyner, Daniel Francis and Bethany Antonia will also take on roles in the series.

What is the plot of Stay Close?
As the official synopsis explains: “With trademark thrills, gripping suspense, and a crime to solve, Stay Close questions how much you really know someone.
Three people living comfortable lives each conceal dark secrets that even the closest to them would never suspect; Megan (Jumbo), a working mother of three; Ray (Armitage), the once promising documentary photographer, now stuck in a dead-end job pandering to celebrity-obsessed rich kids, and Broome (Nesbitt), a detective who’s unable to let go of a missing person’s cold case.
As the past comes back to haunt them, threatening to ruin their lives and the lives of those around them, what will be their next move?”
Cue: a once happy neighbourhood overshadowed by long-ago events that come crashing back, with dark and terrifying consequences.

What are people saying about Stay Close?
As with previous adaptations of Coben’s books, Netflix’s version of Stay Close will relocate the book’s story from the US to UK shores: filming is set to take place in Manchester and the North West of England.
“I’m so excited to work alongside Netflix, Nicola and the whole team on Stay Close,” says Jumbo, who is best known for playing the lawyer Lucca Quinn in The Good Fight, as well as starring in Deadwater Fell. “I can’t wait to get my teeth into such a brilliant British thriller.”
