The record-breaking sale usually takes place in July, but due to the pandemic, the 2020 sale took place in October. This year the sale hasn’t got a confirmed date as of yet, but will likely take place mid-year as per usual (if not a little earlier, if the rumours circulating online are to be believed). Although the event takes place exclusively online so you’ll miss the chaos of lines and crowds that come with traditional sales, the hundreds of thousands of deals being dropped all through the event still make it feel exhilarating and at times stressful – so it’s best to get everything organised in the lead-up.

What is Amazon Prime Day and how do I get involved?

In order to make the most of the aforementioned global shopping event, you need to be an Amazon Prime member.

Amazon Prime is Amazon’s membership programme, where you pay a monthly fee of £7.99 in order to enjoy an array of benefits.

These benefits aren’t limited to just the Prime Day sale, and they include unlimited one-day delivery, access to Prime Video, and the ability to stream Prime Music – to name just a few.

Amazon Prime Day isn’t just a one-day event anymore and can span up to a week whereby hundreds of thousands of products from some of the worlds biggest brands, such as Dyson, Apple, Samsung, and Bose, all saw their prices slashed.

Can I do a free trial?

Yes, yes you can. Amazon offers a generous 30 day free trial for Amazon Prime for new members, so you can test the waters for yourself and see if it works for you.

Following the free trial, an Amazon Prime membership costs £7.99 a month, which you can cancel at any time without any annoying cancellation fees.

Can students take part in the sale?

Absolutely. Thanks to Microsoft Surface, students are entitled to a six-month trial of Amazon Prime where they don’t need to pay a cent to reap the benefits of a Prime membership.

After that trial ends, they can then enjoy their Prime membership for half price, just £3.99 a month which they can cancel at any time.

Students are also entitled to some exclusive offers with their Prime membership, including 10 percent off thousands of textbooks, 10 percent off selected fashion and accessories, and big discounts on student essentials such as stationary, nutrition, and electronics.

How can I find the best Amazon Prime Day deals?

Once you’re signed up as a Prime member, the real fun can begin. During the sale, different deals will be dropping all throughout the day so you need to have a keen eye to grab the best sales.

But with so many products listed on Amazon, it can be hard to keep track of all the hundreds of thousands of amazing discounts being offered at once.

The easiest way to ensure you’re not missing out on any major sales is by downloading Amazon’s app.

Once you’ve got the app downloaded and you’re signed in to your Prime account, Amazon will allow you to preview deals before they go live.

The preview allows you to click ‘Watch this sale’, which will send you an alert once the sale has launched so you can get in quickly before it sells out.
