Crystal Clear SkinStorm facial review: Six-in-one treatment including dermabrasion, micro-needling and ‘Profhilo without needles’
While there’s certainly no shortage of effective skincare on the market nowadays, nothing quite compares to the results you get from a professional facial.
One of the latest face treatments to launch is SkinStorm, by skincare and salon treatment brand Crystal Clear – and it has already proved popular with celebrities such as Mel B, Vicky Pattison and Kym Marsh.
The facial involves six customisable treatments delivered via various nozzles and tools, all stemming from one high tech machine (if you’ve ever had a HydraFacial, it looks similar). These stages are: deep cleansing, exfoliation through both dermabrasion and an acid peel, microneedling, a plumping skin “filler” pumped at high pressure deep into the skin – “like Profhilo without the needles” is how Crystal Clear founder Sharon Hilditch describes it (although it obviously doesn’t penetrate the skin as deeply as the injectable) – and LED light therapy.
If you think that having all this done to your face in one session sounds pretty intense, think again, as this is where the smart science comes in. The treatment uses cooling cryotherapy, reparative light therapy and formulas richly saturated with oxygen to soothe, calm and protect the skin as it’s being perfected. The facial lasts between 60-90 minutes and costs from £150 (find your nearest clinic here).

Crystal Clear SkinStorm facial review:
“Nowadays I’m only really interested in facials if they involve some clever science or something I can’t do to my face myself at home – and the SkinStorm treatment is certainly that. I’d recommend checking out this video on the Crystal Clear website, which explains exactly how the technology works on the skin.
“I’ve had a HydraFacial before so I’m familiar with that same sensation of nozzles sucking and slurping at your skin. Dermabrasion and micro-needling was new to me, though, and I’d previously been worried about how my sensitive skin would handle it. Thanks to the calming combo of oxygen, cryotherapy and LED light, however, SkinStorm allowed me to experience these results without the reaction.
“Aside from a very slight redness that quickly faded, my skin looked immediately clearer, healthier and more plump, and felt unbelievably smooth for days later. This isn’t THE most relaxing facial (lying under the LED lights is snooze-inducing but you’ll certainly feel the micro-needling) but it’s not uncomfortable, and I think worth it for the noticeable results.
“Thanks to the instant effects, this facial would be excellent to have a day before an event, and there are also impressive before-and-after images showing how a course of treatments can work wonders on more serious skin conditions such as acne, scarring and rosacea. I’ll definitely be booking in for it again.”
