Tony Audenshaw

Having starred in the soap for over 20 years now, Tony Audenshaw is instantly recognisable as popular village barman Bob Hope. However, the actor actually first appeared on Emmerdale back in 1996.

Before Bob began pulling pints, Tony was cast Acky, a security guard at Frank Tate's quarry, and appeared in scenes at The Woolpack.

John Middleton

John may have portrayed village vicar Ashley Thomas for 21 years, but he was actually helping out the village long before that.

Two years prior to landing his regular role, the actor was cast as PC Jarvis in 1994, and starred in two episodes. He was introduced as a hostage negotiator, and set out attempting to resolve a siege situation at Home Farm.

Roxy Shahidi

Many think Leyla Harding has been a staple to our screen since 2008, but it was actually two years before that when we first saw Roxy Shahidi appear in Emmerdale.

Roxy starred in one episode as shopkeeper Lila Wray, who was paid a visit by Debbie Dingle and Jasmine Thomas.

Debbie was attempting to land a job at Lila's store, but the shopkeeper was less than impressed by her lack of qualifications and experience. The scene ended with Debbie storming out and knocking over a mannequin on her way out.

Susan Cookson

Wendy Posner burst onto our screens back in 2019, and she's had her fair share of drama over recent years. It's no wonder actress Susan Cookson plays her character so well, as she'd built up her experience starring in four different roles in the soap prior.

She first appeared in 1993 as a garage assistant, then as a detective constable in 1997, and was then cats as DI Judy Dove in 2002.

DI Judy Dove appeared in episodes in December 2002 and January 2003, where she questioned Louise Appleton about the death of her boyfriend Ray Mullan.

Katherine Dow Blyton

Katherine Dow Blyton was cast as vicar Harriet Finch back in 2013, but it was over a decade before that when she first stepped foot onto the set of the soap.

In 1996, Katherine took on the role of a doctor, who was treating Roy Glover after he severed his fingers.

Jonny McPherson

Jonny's best known as Dr Liam Cavanagh, but he actually starred as various other medical professionals before landing his permanent gig.

Back in 2008, Jonny portrayed Jonathan Boam, a doctor who was introduced to treat Donna after she was in a devastating car crash. The actor also played a nurse in 2010, who was on duty when Jackson Walsh was hit by a train.

Liam Fox

Five years before being cast as Dan Spencer, Liam took on the role of PC James. He arrived on the scene when Tom King accused Bob of trying to knock him down in the road.

PC James eventually let Bob off, which may explain why Bob and Dan are such good pals now!

Liam also starred as PC Tyrell in 2002, and Officer Price in 2004.

Louise Marwood

Louise was first cast as Fiona Heath, an old school friend of Nicola's. She caused a stir when she went on a date with Nicola's father Rodney, unaware he was her old friend's dad.

Looks like Louise was preparing herself for Chrissie White's drama-filled love life!

Adam Woodward

Now best known as Hollyoaks heartthrob Brody Hudson, Adam Woodward's first taste of soap stardom was actually on Emmerdale.

He first appeared in 2015, as Grant, a B&B guest who found himself in a spot of bother with Nicola. Nicola presumed Grant was attempting to flirt with her, but really he was just trying to tell her how much she looked like his mum, ouch!

In 2017, Adam starred in six episodes as male escort Nathan, who was hired by Tracy Metcalfe to take Finn Barton on a date in order to boost his confidence.
