To make her simple cleaning mixture, Chantel said you should mix one and a half cups of lukewarm water with half a cup of white vinegar in your own bottle.
This mixture will help to ‘disinfect and clean’ your fridge as well as its surfaces.
‘Add five drops of essential oil or vanilla essence to this mix,’ Chantel said.
Once this is done, remove your shelves from the fridge and spray or wipe them down with rubber gloves and your spray bottle to deodorise them.
You should also spray the entire fridge interior and then wipe it down with a clean cloth to ensure you’ve got rid of any lurking bacteria.
Chantel recommends that you pay particular attention to the corners.
In order to keep your fridge smelling fresh for months, Chantel said you should place a quarter of a cup of bi-carb soda in a bowl inside the fridge and this will ‘repel odours for months’
In order to keep your fridge smelling fresh for months, Chantel said you should place a quarter of a cup of bi-carb soda in a bowl inside the fridge and this will ‘repel odours for months’.
The reason why this tip works is because the smells in your fridge are made up of food particles that float around and eventually settle into your other meals.
The unique characteristics of sodium bicarbonate make it very attractive to both acidic and base particles, and once these particles bond with the soda, the odour is neutralised.
Thousands who saw Chantel’s simple clip were impressed with it and said they will dedicate this weekend to cleaning out their fridge.
‘I’ll be trying this, thanks for sharing,’ one commenter wrote.
‘This is an amazing hack, I’ll definitely be trying,’ another added.
Others asked Chantel where she got her spray bottle from, and the mum said she bought it from Pretty Little Designs.
One suggested using discarded coffee grains instead of bicarb soda if you don’t have any, as it works just as well.
