I gave £90k to woman I met online who claimed to live in Surrey but was actually from Nigeria
DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE given almost £90,000 to a woman who claimed to live in Surrey but was actually from Nigeria.
I’m 43 and met her on a website where, I admit, I was looking for sex.

I was married at the time but there was little love and no physical attraction.
This woman told me she was only in Nigeria because she was sorting out her late father’s estate.
We chatted for hours, getting to know one another. She asked if I could send her money, as her bank account was frozen. I agreed but she continued to ask for more to cover her expenses.
My marriage ended and I gave her thousands over a couple of years.
Friends warned me it was a scam but I didn’t want to know – then suddenly she cut all contact and I have been left so lost.
DEIDRE SAYS: I’m sorry but this is obviously a scam.
The web is great for meeting people but there are fraudsters. Never send money to strangers.
Report her, if it really was a woman, and get advice about internet scams with Action Fraud (actionfraud.police.uk, 0300 123 2040).
