Jihadi Jack’s mum claims her ISIS fighter son is the ‘victim of a witch hunt’

Jihadi Jack's mum is calling for her ISIS fighter son to have his British citizenship reinstated, claiming he has been the victim of a 'witch hunt'.

Sally Lane, 57, says her son Jack Letts should be allowed to return to the UK, instead of being left to languish in a Kurdish prison in Syria.

Mrs Lane and her husband were previously convicted of funding terrorism by sending money to their boy while he was fighting with ISIS.

Sajid Javid stripped Letts, who also holds Canadian citizenship, of his British passport in one of his last acts as Home Secretary before becoming Chancellor.

The 24-year-old's mum told Mail Online : "My son is a victim of a witch hunt. He is a scapegoat for the Government."

However, the couple's neighbours said they struggled to feel any sympathy for the young jihadi.

One resident told the news site: "They can't see how they come across.

"Their son was an ISIS terrorist and now they want us to feel sorry for him rather than his victims. Most people are outraged."
