Martin Lewis advice on refunds after Government Tier confusion – can you claim money back?
Martin Lewis gives advice on theatre ticket refunds
One woman dialed in to ask Martin about refunds. She told the money expert: “I bought panto tickets for a Tier Two area.”
However, she went on to explain the area had been moved to Tier Three, meaning the pantomime could not go ahead.
Martin’s advice came with a number of insights.
He said: “Well it’s been very difficult. The Competition and Markets Authority says it believes if people cannot get the service they pay for due to coronavirus implications they should get a refund.”
This is good news, in a sense, as it means Britons do have a right to a refund, should they take it court.

If the caller did want a refund, she would need to take the theatre to court to get it forced.
However, Martin suggested not doing this.
He said: “You may want to talk to the theatre.
“I dont want to suggest that you go to court, you have a right to go to court to get your refund, but I don’t want to suggest that.”

As it is a difficult time for businesses, Martin suggested instead a different approach.
He said: “Maybe work out if you could get a voucher for an upcoming production.”
If choosing to go to court, Martin warned: “Ultimately you might force the money but the theatre could close down in the meantime.”
Martin also recently recommended a trick to cash in at Lidl before Christmas.
Martin Lewis’ Lidl deal involves shopping using the store’s app.
To get the deal you need to act fast, as it is only applicable in December.
There is another catch too, and you’ll need your phone to get it.
Customers can only get the deal on the supermarket’s app, the Lidl Plus app.
Britons can get a free £12 at Lidl if they spend over £200.
After downloading the Lidl plus app, customers will get a £2 coupon when spending £100 this month.
If they spend another £100 then customers will receive £10.
The sum coild go a long way towards something nice for Christmas.
