The lunar cycle is trendy at the moment, with more and more people following the Moon’s journey from New to Full and back again. The Moon controls the tides, so the theory that the Moon controls us makes a little sense because the human body is 60 percent water. What type of Moon is it today and what does it mean? Express.co.uk reveals the meaning of each Moon phase, according to Moon Mentor Kirsty Gallagher’s book Lunar Living: Working with the Magic of the Moon Cycle.
What type of Moon is it today?
The Moon was Full in Aquarius on Friday, 24 July at 3.36am.
On Saturday, 25 July the Moon turned to a Waning Gibbous Moon and it still is.
The Moon will be Waning Gibbous until Saturday, July 31, and then it becomes the third quarter Moon.
On August 2 the Moon will be in the Waning Crescent phase until it’s a New Moon on Sunday, August 8.
Moon phase meaning
The Dark Moon is the last few days of the Waning Moon where the Moon is barely visible but isn’t quite new.
According to Kirsty, this is a time to reset, release and get rid of anything or anyone that you no longer need or want.
At this point of the month, you’ll have the lowest energy and turn inwards.
You’ll be forced to slow down, think and take part in self-care
The New Moon happens when the Moon, Sun and Earth are in line and it may feel like a breath of fresh air.
You’re going to feel more positive and able to visualise your dreams and goals.
Get clear on what you want and how you’re going to get there.
This is a time to make plans and plant seeds rather than doing the things to get you there.
The Waxing Crescent Moon is when you see the first sliver of the Moon in the sky and it’s time for action.
Get cracking with your New Moon intentions and put all of your effort into them, even if they feel a long way away.
Find strength and don’t give up! Repeat your intentions and affirmations.
The Waxing first Quarter Moon is when the Moon is halfway towards Full and we’re a quarter of the way through the lunar cycle.
The Moon is bringing everything you need to bring your hopes and dreams to fruition and it’s time to say yes to every invite you receive.
Keep your eyes, arms and heart open and watch as your plans start to fall into place.
The Waxing Gibbous Moon looks like a Full Moon, but there’s a little edge missing.
You’ll be full of energy but restless and impatient, and you may feel as if something is missing.
You may feel frantic, but you need to try and be patient and trust that everything will work out.
Lots of people struggle to sleep in the lead-up to the Full Moon, and Kirsty said that’s because the Moon wants you to make it to the finish line.
When the Moon is Full in the sky, it’s in line with the Sun but on the opposite side of the Earth.
You should have the most energy at this time of the month, but this depends on whether or not you’ve been fighting against the Moon or going with the flow.
The Moon’s Full light is shining on your life and exposing everything you need to see.
If you’ve reached your goals, it’s time to celebrate.
If you haven’t, it’s time to look at everything the Moon has been nudging you to change or what it’s telling you isn’t quite right.
Don’t let self-doubt, fears and self-sabotage get in the way – the Moon is showing you what you need to evaluate and change. Make new intentions.
The Waning Gibbous happens when the Moon loses her fullness slightly.
The business and high energy calms down and you may feel like giving up, but don’t!
Process what has happened recently, learn from it and have those difficult conversations if you feel you need to bring things to an end.
Waning Last Quarter
When the Moon is halfway towards New, it’s the Waning Last Quarter and we’re three-quarters of the way through the lunar cycle.
The Moon is getting smaller but the Moon is encouraging you to surrender, let go and make room for new beginnings.
You may feel uneasy and move inwards, but you need to face up to things and decide whether it’s time to let go of things for good.
