Primark warns shoppers not to buy products via Amazon as they're more expensive
PRIMARK has warned shoppers not to buy its clothes and accessories via Amazon because some items are being sold at more than four times the price that they are in stores.
Fans of the bargain shop were initially thrilled to learn that you can now order a limited selection of Primark goods, including items from the popular Disney, Friends and Harry Potter ranges, online via Amazon.
And you can get next day delivery too – as long as you're a member of Prime.
But Primark urged shoppers not to be drawn in, as the prices online were higher than in its shops.
“We do not have a commercial partnership with Amazon and any Primark products which appear on the site are being re-sold by third parties, at higher prices,” it said.
“We encourage our customers to visit us in our stores to find the best value.”
And some savvy shoppers were disappointed once they realised that the costs were higher than in their local store.
“What and absolute anti climax that was. Cr** stuff and well over priced – don't bother looking it will make you sad,” Giorgia Wakeham wrote on Facebook.
Jayne Barnes, wrote: “Not linked to Primark and costs treble what they charge.”
Another said she had seen a Friends-themed fleece blanket for sale in her local store for £6 – but it was priced at £16.99 online.
Six friends fridge magnets are currently being sold for £6.99 online, but were £3 in store when they were launched.
Meanwhile, a mug in the shape of Disney character Chip, from the film Beauty and the Beast, was priced at £22.42 – but is only £5 in store.
Primark has so far resisted opening an online store, although it does sell a limited number of items via Asos.
Here's everything you need to know about what Primark items are for sale on Amazon.
