Sainsbury’s rewards customers with bonus Nectar card points – how to claim

Sainsbury’s is rewarding its customers with bonus Nectar club points when buying certain items in-store. Retailers have urged customers to shop early for Christmas this year to avoid the busy festive period and the supermarket giant is now rewarding customers who do so.

In a recent letter to customers, Sainsbury’s Chief Executive Simon Roberts, outlined the safety measures that the supermarket has put in place to help shoppers stay safe in December.

Simon Roberts said: “We and other retailers have been asking you to shop early to help us serve everyone in the key Christmas weeks.

“Lots of you have been following this advice and buying Christmas cupboard essentials much earlier than usual. Thank you for this.

“Buying these products earlier means you’ll find everything you need and we hope you can then focus on your fresh food shop closer to the day itself.”

Buying certain items in-store also means customers can get hold of extra Nectar card points.

Mr Roberts added: “Plus, it should help us manage queues better as we get closer to Christmas.

“To thank you for shopping early, you can collect 10x Nectar points when you shop across thousands of Christmas cupboard lines, in store or online, between Friday 4th and Sunday 13th December.”

The 10x Nectar points promotion is available only at Sainsbury’s Superstores, convenience, groceries at Petrol Filling Stations, Smartshop checkouts and mobile pay.

Customers who order their groceries online can also claim the bonus points if the order is delivered on or between the promotional dates through the web or GOL app.

Products in the promotion include crisps, nuts, biscuits, packaged bakery, cereals and home-baking.

Other categories include noodles, rice, UHT products, table sauces, preserves, honey, soft drinks and packaged dessert.

Customers will receive 10 Nectar points for every pound they spend on qualifying groceries at Sainsbury’s during December 4 and December 13.

Points will be added to shoppers’ Nectar accounts within 48 hours.

Nectar points can be spent across the 400 partners brands that Sainsbury’s has.

As well as spending in various different retailers, they can also be used on things like holidays, hotels and days out.

Mr Roberts also outlined that when shopping in-store, SmartShop is a great way to complete a grocery shop quickly.

He said: “When you’re shopping in our stores, try using SmartShop. This is a great app that you can set up on your phone before you get to the store, then immediately start scanning your items and pack as you shop before checking out quickly – so no need to unpack and then re-pack your items at the end of your shop.

“It’s fast as well as safe. SmartShop is available in all supermarkets and by next week, you can also use the app in over 500 convenience stores.”

Sainsbury’s is also extending its Christmas opening times to help customers get hold of everything they need for the big day.

Mr Roberts added: “90 percent of our supermarkets will be open from 6am until midnight from Monday 21st until Wednesday 23rd December and many others will be open for longer than usual.

“Thank you for all your feedback about the fantastic job our colleagues are doing.

“They are working so hard to make sure you have everything you need for the best possible Christmas with your loved ones. To give them a little more time to spend with their families, our supermarkets will be open for fewer hours this Boxing Day.

“All Sainsbury’s supermarkets will be open from 10am to 5pm on 26th December and our convenience stores will be open as usual.”
