Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn launches colour-changing lipsticks – we review them

Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn may be an expert at flogging multi-million dollar homes, but she also slays with her makeup looks, too. So when we heard she had teamed up with Ciaté London to launch her very own makeup collection, we couldn’t contain our excitement.

The five-piece collection of lip, eye and face products embodies all the sassiness of the star’s on-screen persona. And arguably the highlight from the range is the Heat Transforming Lip Cream, £17 here, a heat-activated lipstick that comes in an everyday nude shade and a roaring red hue – but both change colour based on temperature.

So how does it work? After applying the lipstick, simply press something cold or warm against your lips and the colour should change entirely. Whether you’re on a first date or trading party tricks at a dinner party, this product sounds like a total crowd pleaser.

OK!’s beauty assistant Emma has been testing out the lipsticks herself – here’s what she thought…

Emma says:

If you were to dig through my makeup bag, you’d probably find a million nude lipsticks that look, well, kind of the same. I’m a creature of habit, and I never think to branch out to bolder shades – let alone ones that change colour entirely.

I’ll admit that my first thought was, am I going to look in the mirror to find myself donning a bright blue lipstick? Nonetheless, I was curious to put them to the test.

I liked the formula, which sits somewhere between a soft matte liquid lipstick and a gloss, with a hydrating feel and long-lasting finish. Naturally, I started with the lighter Drama Queen shade, £17 here – a peachy pink colour that I thought would fit perfectly into my existing lippy collection.

After wearing the product for 60 seconds as instructed, I took an ice cube, swept it across my lips and watched the magic happen. My summery nude hue immediately transformed into an equally flattering mauve-plum.

But it was the bright red Ca$h Fetish shade, £17 here, which surprised me the most. The only time you’ll see me wearing a colour like that is at Christmas, but I think it’s safe to say I’ve been converted. Just as I’d adjusted to the pillar box red, I tried the ice cube trick again and I was left with a vampire-esque purple colour (which I must admit, I kind of enjoyed).

It didn’t take long before the lipstick adjusted back to the warm temperature of the room and my striking red shade had returned – impressive, to say the least!

Not only do these lipsticks make getting ready a whole lot more fun, but technically you’re saving money too, as you’ll get two shades for the price of one – and we’re all about a bargain.
