Should Kylie Jenner Show Her Daughter's Face In YouTube Videos?

When it comes to social media, there’s a massive debate about whether or not young children should be allowed to partake. Another hot topic is whether or not parents should be showing their kiddies via their own accounts. This is especially true for celebrities.

Just earlier this year, Pink stopped sharing her children on social media due to mean-spirited comments. But while the iconic songstress is on one side of the spectrum, the other side has parents like Farrah Abraham, who not only parades her child on social media but allows her to have her own accounts.

That being said, where should Kylie Jenner be on the spectrum? Should little Stormi be shown in YouTube videos or should she be kept hidden away from the cameras?

Stormi was a big part of Kylie’s ‘A Day in the Life’ video

Earlier this month, Jenner uploaded a YouTube video showing what it’s like being the world’s youngest billionaire. The video kicks off with the doting mother following Stormi around.

Then, it cuts to a mirror shot where the KUWTK star explains her day’s agenda. Just two minutes into the video, we hear Jenner waking up Stormi and getting her ready to go out. The adorable one-year-old visits her mother at work and the beauty mogul takes some time out of her busy day to play with her. She’s even present during one of her Kylie Cosmetics meetings!

The comments for the video are pretty funny if you sort by the most popular, but if you sort by newest you’ll easily run across comments criticizing her parenting (since she was out all night) and the lack of nannies in the video.

Jenner has been using social media to share images of her baby girl ever since she was born. That is until last June when she wiped pictures including Stormi’s face from Instagram.

The drastic move alarmed her followers and immediately got them wondering; Why the sudden change of heart? Many believed it had to do with people using the images to support their conspiracy theories — Travis Scott wasn’t Stormi’s dad … one of the bodyguards was.

This is just one example of what can go wrong when people share their baby photos. While it isn’t necessarily malicious, it is stressful. Plus, what happens if Stormi comes across these accusations in the archives in the future? It could lead to a very awkward conversation. One that Jenner may not be ready to address.

“Kylie is shocked and doesn’t want her daughter’s pictures to be a part of something negative. She might reconsider in the future, but for now, she won’t post any more photos of Stormi’s face.”

If she wants to avoid the negativity, keeping her out of her YouTube videos would be smart. But for some reason, Jenner eventually went back to her old ways and you can now see Stormi all over her social media. If she wants her daughter to lead a normal life, it really would be a better idea to expose her to the internet as little as possible.

Kylie Jenner wouldn’t be the only celebrity to hide her child’s face

If Jenner opts to keep Stormi’s face off of YouTube, she wouldn’t be the first celeb parents to jump on the bandwagon. American actress Mindy Kaling, best known for her central role on The Mindy Project, has made it a point to keep her daughter’s face off the internet. Kaling is very active on social media and isn’t afraid to share news about her life, so what makes her little one off-limits?

While speaking with Glamour magazine Kaling finally let the world know why she’s so against putting her daughter on public display.

“I feel entitled to have privacy about my daughter and my relationships. It’s really essential to my life that there be something not everybody knows about. That’s a boundary, but it’s a very small boundary. Everything else I really don’t have any issue sharing.”

Honestly, keeping relationships, especially familial ones, outside of the public eye is a great idea. It helps keep drama and outside interference to a minimum — a key to living a happy and healthy life.
