Tesco launches new way Clubcard customers can pay, save money and collect points
Tesco has launched a new way for customers to pay, save money and pick up Clubcard points.
All Clubcard members can apply for Tesco Clubcard Pay+, which is a sort of pre-payment debit card provided by Tesco Bank.
Shoppers can add money and ringfence their grocery spend from any UK bank account into their Tesco Clubcard Pay+ account.
Also if you want you can use the pre-payment card in any store or online.
But you can only spend cash you actively put onto the card and it won't let you splash money directly from a current account.
Customers can also save while they shop by rounding up their purchases to the nearest pound in a Round Up account.
Tesco Clubcard Pay+ account holders get a debit card which will also act as their Clubcard, replacing their current Clubcard.
Almost 45,000 accounts have been opened by shoppers since its pilot launch for Tesco colleagues in March 2021.
The scheme saw more than £24 million spent on 1.2 million transactions using Clubcard Pay+ at Tesco and other retailers.
Around 5.25 million Clubcard points nationwide have been awarded on the account too.
Tesco Bank chief executive Gerry Mallon said: "We're very encouraged to see Tesco Clubcard Pay+ help give shoppers the confidence to start saving while managing their budget and picking up extra Clubcard Points wherever they shop."
The Tesco Clubcard Pay+ has so far helped customers save more than £213,000 into their Round Up savings accounts.
And the Tesco Round Up deal does have the advantage of being easy to use and will help savers put away cash automatically.
