David Bowies kids now – poignant tattoo tribute, Hollywood, no to modelling

Music legend David Bowie would have turned 75 years old today (January 8).

The Starman singer and Let's Dance icon tended to keep his personal life away from the cameras, but during his life, he welcomed two children called Duncan and Lexi.

Both Duncan and Lexi have followed in their father's footsteps, after showcasing their creative talents in the film and art industries.

Duncan has become a renowned film director, while Lexi has showcased her impressive art work on Instagram – but how much do you know about David Bowie's children?

Duncan Jones

Duncan Jones is David's eldest child, who was born on May 30, 1971 to the musician and his first wife, Angie Bowie.

Smooth Radio also reports that Duncan was known as "Zowie" during his childhood, to rhyme with his father's stage name.

A creative flair certainly ran in the family, as Duncan graduated from the London Film School in 2001.

Since then he has become a successful film director, producer and screen writer for films Source Code, Warcraft and Mute.

He also won the BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer for the 2009 film Moon.

Away from the limelight, Duncan has been married to photographer Rodene Ronquillo since 2012, with who has two children called Stenton and Zowie – in a nod to his childhood nickname.

Most recently, Duncan paid a sweet tribute to his dad by recreating the introduction to film The Snowman – using the same scarf that David wore in the original video.

David was asked to record a new introduction to the film in 1984, during which he could be seen wearing a blue scarf decorated with a snowman print, and pretended to play the adult version of the boy from the animated classic.

In a sweet video posted on Twitter, Duncan put his own twist on the 1984 classic, wearing the same outfit after he rediscovered the scarf in his attic in 2020.

Duncan could be heard saying in the video: "When I was a little lad, my dad used to tell me a story about when he was little, he had a friend who was a snowman.

"He was such a good friend that one day he gave him a gift.

"I always thought that that story was made up but then one day when I got a bit older my dad gave me that gift and it was a beautiful blue scarf. And now I wonder if maybe the story was true? Merry Christmas everyone."

Alexandria 'Lexi' Zahra Jones

Alexandria 'Lexi' Zahra Jones is the daughter of David and supermodel wife Iman, who was born on August 15, 2000.

Not much is known about David's daughter, as she keeps her personal life away from the public eye.

However, she does regularly post on Instagram and it is known that she is currently studying in New York City, where she has lived for her entire life.

Like her parents and brother Duncan, Lexi is also a talented creative and uses her Instagram page to showcase her art work.

Lexi also pays tribute to her late father on her social media pages, including an emotional tribute in 2017 that showed a picture of David holding her a baby.

The post was captioned: "I think about you every second of every day and you’re all I need. I love you."

Lexi also has a tattoo of a moon, with the words: "Daddy xx 1947 – 2017."

Meanwhile, mum Iman has a tattoo of a dagger on her ankle, next to the word David.

However, mum Iman revealed that she turned down offers for Lexi to become a model, in order to protect her daughter's privacy.

Speaking to Porter Magazine, Iman explained that after she shared a beautiful snap of the two of them together on Instagram, modelling agencies began contacting her with offers for Lexi to be signed as a model.

However, Iman turned down the offers, saying: "Every agency, every designer called me to say, ‘If she wants to, we’d love for her to model for us,’ but I said, ‘No, she doesn’t.'

"I know why they wanted her to model. It’s because she’s David Bowie’s daughter. She says I’m overprotective. But I told her, ‘This can all wait. It isn’t going anywhere.

"Have a life that is private while you can, because one day soon, it is going to be public. So enjoy this."
