Goggleboxs Pete cant afford to quit day job as he opens up on Channel 4 salary

Gogglebox star Pete Sandiford has revealed he can’t give up his job as a roofer claiming his Channel 4 paycheck doesn’t even cover his mortgage.

Despite becoming a household name alongside his sister Sophie, the show’s payment of £1,500-a-month isn't enough to live off.

Pete spoke out at the TRIC Awards, telling The Sun: "We just saw Eammon Holmes. I am just a builder from Blackpool, so it is a bit strange when celebrities know us. I was on a roof yesterday."

When asked if he'd consider giving up his job, he said: "I have got to pay my mortgage somehow."

Despite the lacklustre pay packet, the married dad-of-one also revealed he wasn’t interested in topping up his bank account by appearing on other reality shows, saying: "No, nothing beats sitting on the sofa."

Pete joined Gogglebox in 2017 and is a big favourite with fans of the Channel 4 show.

The TV star is married to wife Paige and they have a baby son called Jimmy.

Pete was joined at the glitzy awards bash in London by his sister Sophie, and the pair looked completely different to how we usually see them.

Sophie looked gorgeous in a pastel pink suit, wearing the blazer jacket over a white tap which featured a feathered edge.

She paired the outfit with a white clutch bag and donned a pair of chunky white heels as she strutted the blue carpet with her older sibling.

Pete also pulled out the stops and looked dapper in a three-piece checked suit.

Gogglebox picked up the award for best entertainment show and were seen celebrating the Channel 4 show's win in a group picture alongside co-star brothers Tremaine, Twaine and Tristan, and TOWIE star Amy Childs and former EastEnders and current Hollyoaks actor Richard Blackwood.

Tristan posted the snap to his Instagram with the caption "We won" and a trophy emoji. Fellow Gogglebox star Mica Ven was among those commenting, writing: "Yesssssssssss famalam," while Richard wrote: "Well done truly proud."

He issued a warning to GMB in the winners' room, saying: "We're coming for you."
