Lewis Capaldi unimpressed as fan mistakes him for Susan Boyle in awkward error

Lewis Capaldi was left somewhat embarrassed after being mistaken for Susan Boyle during a recent BBC special during the Scottish celebration of Hogmanay.

The singer was joined by Edith Bowman to celebrate the event which sees Scotts say goodbye to the previous year and also welcome in the new year.

However, despite riding on a high, the hitmaker, 26, was brought straight back down when one of his social media followers shared what had happened in their house.

Lewis had shared a clip of him performing at the event on his TikTok page to his 4.8 million followers and captioned his initial upload: "POV: You're watching yourself sing ur latest single to bring in the new year but it never went viral in tiktok so it's meaningless {sic]."

But Lewis who is set to headline Reading and Leeds Festival was soon hit with a string of comments complimenting his performance but one caught his attention.

"Lewis, my dad saw you on TV and thought you were Susan Boyle," said one music lover.

The comment which was liked over 3500 times saw Lewis respond to the fan in a video to hit single Pointless looking rather disappointed, writing on the video: "Great start to the new year".

Captioning his upload which has raked in over 325,000 likes, the star penned: "I dreamed a dream that ppl stopped telling me I looked like women in their 60s [sic]," before the fan replied: "If it helps, my dad does feel bad."

Fans couldn't contain their amusement as they flocked to the comment section, with one writing: "Dreamed a dream. I am HOWLING hahahahaha. Funniest man Alive."

"To be fair I've never seen Lewis Capaldi and Susan Boyle in the same room…" noted one.

Before a third added: "Everybody has two wolves living inside of them, and one of them is Susan Boyle."

"I think you are the Scottish Brad Pitt ignore that silly comment above about Susan Boyle not true at all," gushed another.

This, however, is not the first time Lewis has been mistaken for a rather recognisable face – having previously noticed a striking resemblance to the nation's shortest Prime Minister, wet lettuce Liz Truss.

Despite Truss only holding power for seven weeks, Lewis saw the funny side in the comparison when a fan penned: "Congratulations @LewisCapaldi on becoming the next Prime minister #LizTruss," alongside a snap of the MP in the 1990s.

"Why do I look like so many female politicians?" asked Lewis.
