Mark Wright hit by new health fears after cancer scare saw tumour removed

Mark Wright has said he is "scared" for his health after a cancer scare last year made him feel like he's "not immortal".

Michelle Keegan's husband found a 12cm lump in his armpit last year and had an operation to have the tumour removed after it was "big enough to cause concern".

Now, 35-year-old Mark has opened up about how the worrying incident affected him, admitting he is now more aware of his health and body.

He said: "I wouldn't say I'm a hypochondriac but I definitely always get checks. If I ever feel anything's not completely right, I'll go and get it checked out."

The former TOWIE star added to The Mirror: "It has scared me because it makes you feel you're not immortal.

"You always think: 'Ah yes, it's not going to happen to me'. And then when something like that happens, it does give you a bit of a fear."

Mark is still feeling some side effects – such as a stinging in his arm – from his operation to have the tumour removed, which was seven months ago.

He explained that the surgery had to be done in a very particular way as there are a lot of nerves and nerve endings in the affected area.

The fitness fanatic was forced to stop going to the gym because it was too painful for the first few months after the op, with the recovery being "tough".

Mark documented the entire journey on social media, showing fans a photo of him with his arm raised with the lump in his armpit very visible.

He urged his followers: "If you notice anything that doesn't look or feel quite right. Don't leave it.

"Nothing in life is more important than your health and well-being. Get checked, check yourself and make sure you take good care of yourself."

Mark is currently having to spend time away from his wife Michelle, as she jetted off to Australia to film her next project, the BBC show Ten Pound Poms.

Michelle, 34, headed Down Under in May and was set to be away for a few months.
