Nicki Minaj’s brother sentenced for 25 years in prison for child rape

Nicki Minaj's brother Jelani Maraj has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after being found guilty of child rape.

Maraj appeared in a New York court on Monday before being slapped with the sentence by Judge Robert McDonald, according to TMZ.

Maraj was previously found guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child and endangering the welfare of a child during trial.

The trail is understood to have latest less than three weeks.

At the time of the verdict in 2017, Nassau County D.A. told TMZ: "We hope that today's verdict will help the family in the healing process."

After he was jailed in 2017, Nicki, whose real name is Onika Maraj-Petty, went to visit her brother behind bars in November that year.

Reports from TMZ at the time claimed she only went to support her mother.

Nicki never testified during the trial despite claims made by her brother's defence team that she would.

However, it is not known if she was ever formally asked to do so.

The victim, who was aged 14, testified that on one Maraj has sexually assaulted her anally.

Her younger brother said he witnessed the attack when he gave evidence.

Defence for Miraj alleged the charges were part of a plot to demand"£25 million hush money" from his superstar sister.

DNA evidence revealed in the court room cited his DNA was found on the girl’s pyjama bottoms.

A rep for Nicki Minaj has been contacted by Daily Star Online for comment.
