Olivia Rodrigo makes history as youngest-ever artist to get Number One album

Having just released her first album, 18-year-old Olivia Rodrigo has become the youngest solo artist to ever score Number One in the UK charts, along with the largest opening week of 2021.

The singer was overjoyed with her Official Chart awards on Friday after breaking records to get them.

Her song Good 4 U recently reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100, making it her second number one after her hit titled Driver’s License.

Jumping on Instagram to celebrate the star wrote: "IM SO HAPPY AHHHHHH!!!!!"

Olivia is known for appearing as the character of Paige Olvera in the Disney Channel hit show Bizaardvark and starring in the Disney+ show High School Musical: The Musical: The Show as main character Nini Salazar-Roberts.

With her last hit Driver’s License releasing in January of this year, Olivia because one of a small number of artists to score a UK number one before adulthood.

Olivia’s long time idol Taylor Swift is sampled on the album and the star even has a handwritten note from the star herself.

She said about the note: "It's really sweet and personal,

"But she talks a lot about how, I think, you make your own luck in the world. And when you do kind things to others, good things come your way."

It was earlier this year that the star got to meet Taylor for the first time at the 2021 BRIT awards in London.

With season two of High School Musical: The Musical: The Show currently airing on Disney+ the star will be on our TV screens and the radio for the coming months as her popularity rises.

In the latest episode of the show, Olivia’s character Nina tried to visit home from Denver to surprise her partner Ricky, unaware that he had travelled to Denver to try and surprise her too.

With the characters of Nina and Ricky having a rocky relationship throughout the first season, we’ll have to wait to find out if they make it through the next seven episodes due to release.
