R5 Homixide dies aged 22 as family and fans pay tribute to amazing artist

American rapper R5 Homixide has died at the age of 22, his friends confirmed on social media.
The Lion Heart performer, whose real name is Rashad Dowdy, sadly passed away on Monday 23 August and the star's family has been flooded with touching tributes to the late artist since his passing.
Although it has not yet been confirmed how the singer died, fellow rappers and artists have reflected on the young artists work prior to his death as fans share their heartbreak over his sudden loss.
The rapper's family are yet to make a statement about his death, which has not yet been officially confirmed.
Fellow rapper Problem Child 5 shared a sweet snap of the pair as his first post on Instagram, which he captioned: "Who tf gone watch my back now. Take me with you twin," with nine heart broken emojis.
Artist Money Game Boo also shared a touching tribute of the pair together online with a lengthy caption dedicated to the up and coming rapper.
He wrote: "REST UP LIL BRO YOUR HEART WAS BIG AS THIS WORLD. IM CONFUSED RIGHT NOW ALL I CAN SAY YOU NO YOU WAS AMAZING YOUN LOIN IN MY EYES AN MY PRAYER GO UP TO U.
"LIL BRA PLEASE LIVE HIS LEGACY YOUR TEAM DEPENDING ON YOU TWIN LOVE YA N***A SEE YOU SOON TO LIVE YOUR BROTHER LEGACY."
The Atlanta rapper first released his debut album Gvnganati 3 back in March last year at the start of the global pandemic.
The hitmaker was yet to sign a record deal but found fame for his hit song Lion Heart which he released just four months later.
His most recent release, Chrome Heart, dropped in August 2021 and has received just shy of 60,000 views on YouTube to date.
During a candid interview with Lalaa Shepard on her YouTube channel back in June, R5 opened up about his life before fame and the difficult transition into the music industry from "the streets."
On his final Instagram post, which promoted his latest music video from his recent single, fans flooded his feed with messages of condolences after the horrific news.
One user wrote: "Twin this s**t can't b true," with a heart broken emoji while another added: "Love ya thugg. Till we meet again!!!"
A third penned: Praying for his family and Carti," while another noted: "Damn rip bruh, Carti lost another one."
The young artist was reportedly good friends with fellow rapper Playboi Carti as well as many other artists in the industry.
R5's very first Instagram profile appeared to pay tribute to one of his late friends who passed away some time ago.
He captioned the touching tribute: "Foreva with me I love you I hate it you had to go Out like dis bra. We was havin a Good Day braa I'm sorry brudda youn deserve dis u never did s**t to anybody u just wanted sum money. I shoulda been outside with u How da hell did I sleep thru All dem shots."
