Thomas Markle Jr says hes doing Big Brother VIP so Meghan can see the real me

Thomas Markle Junior has revealed the only reason he's doing Big Brother VIP is so his sister Meghan Markle can "see the real me".

The 55-year-old tradesman, who is Meghan's half-brother, has just started starring in the Australian reality TV show which kicked off on Monday (November 1).

It is the Australian version of Celebrity Big Brother, but rather than being filmed live, this year's series is pre-recorded and had gathered its celebrity contestants in a luxury hotel at Sydney Olympic Park.

Speaking to New Idea magazine, he said: "I really hope Meghan is watching, that’s why I’m doing this, so she can see the real me."

He added: "I want everybody watching to take away this side of me, the real me. I am loveable, nice, I’ll give you the shirt off my back, I’m funny."

It comes as Thomas, who shares the same father as Meghan, issued a public apology to Meghan after criticising her in the media over the years.

He once described Meghan as "shallow" and a "phoney" in the press, telling Prince Harry that his half-sister would "ruin" his life.

One time, he penned a letter before their star-studded wedding in 2018, branding the affair as a "fake fairy tale".

However, he has now admitted that he's "made some horrible mistakes" which he regrets, even describing his past comments on Big Brother VIP as an "overreaction".

Thomas explained that his relationship with his sister took a turn for the worse when Meghan started dating Harry, and that he was thrust into the limelight when the relationship began.

He said: "I was being backed into a corner, into a wall. I made some horrible mistakes and still regret them to this day."

The reality star went on to say that he'd do anything to go and visit Meghan and give her a "big hug and kiss".

He said: "I don't want anything, I would just love to go over to their home and knock on the door, give her a big hug and kiss, and say I missed the hell out of her and apologise right to her face."

He added: "Maybe one day that will happen. I'd do anything to see Archie and Lilibet."

He is playing for ASTHA, a charity providing food, water and other essentials like clothing to the homeless.

Thomas and his fellow cast mates, which include former I'm A Celeb star Caitlyn Jenner, are competing to win a huge $100,000 donation to their chosen charities.
