Tom Hanks’ Son Chet Now Uses Caribbean Accent to Promote New Song, People Call Him Corny

Chet Hanks can be seen in an Instagram video yelling in the Caribbean accent, ‘A-YO LISTEN, MI DROP ONE BEAT CHUNE RIGHT NOW ON SOUNDCLOUD LINK IN BIO GO LISTEN NOW.’

AceShowbizTom Hanks‘ son continues using his Caribbean accent after garnering massive reaction when he first showed it off at the 2020 Golden Globes. This time around, Chet Hanks makes use of his viral accent to promote his song with his group Something Out West, “Harley”.

In an Instagram video shared on Monday night, January 6, Chet yelled at the camera, “A-YO LISTEN, MI DROP ONE BEAT CHUNE RIGHT NOW ON SOUNDCLOUD LINK IN BIO GO LISTEN NOW MADE THE KING GO UP UP LIKE SEVEN.” He then went back to listening to a dancehall song in his car while singing along to it.

Some were still confused after watching the video, while some others claimed that he started to go overboard. “As a proud Jamaican! I can vouch that his accent is better than Drake’s but is getting Corny and corny everyday he does it!” one says. “He fine and corny,” another simply reacted. “Now that y’all hyped him to his apex he’s trying to become the face of dancehall by telling y’all to stream his sonically diluted foolishness.”

“Now he’s overdoing it!! We let u slide the first couple days but rude boi!! Yuh naaahh mek nuh money off mi country. …He’s getting out of hand!” someone else noted. Meanwhile, one other person commented, “No sir! Now you’re really overdoing it!! I was rooting for you.”

Chet’s song itself isn’t a dancehall like everyone would have expected given his promotion video. However, he already expressed his interest in making a dancehall remix of the song.

Chet and his Caribbean accent first caught attention at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards last weekend, as he shared an Instagram video of him speaking in the accent from the red carpet of the ceremony. He has since unapologetically responded to the confusion by sharing a screenshot of a headline which read, “Tom Hanks’ son Chet is filmed speaking patois at the Golden Globes and the internet is baffled.” He added in the caption, “Average citizens: damn this is scary I can’t believe we’re on the verge of WW3 let me check the news smh. @CNN: [laughing while crying emojis].”
