What did Katie Hopkins tweet about Jesy Nelson as Chris Hughes defends Jesy?

Katie Hopkins and her tweets are controversial at the best of times, but the former The Apprentice contestant has left fans of Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson outraged after a tweet she sent the star back in 2013 was aired during new BBC One documentary, Odd One Out.

As the documentary aired, which is about the relentless online trolling Jesy has experienced since finding fame on the X-Factor and joining Little Mix, Jesy Nelson’s boyfriend Chris Hughes hit out at Hopkins on Twitter calling her a ‘b***h’ and sending a middle finger emoji, but then deleted the message.

In response Hopkins hit back at Hughes tweeting, ‘Brilliant by Boyfriend of #OddOneOut #JesyNelson.

‘As the show aired on BBC One tonight, Chris tweeted Hopkins calling her a ‘b***h’ and sending a middle finger emoji. Not the sharpest tool in the shed are we dear?’

As fans’ outrage at Hopkins’ cruel jibe at Jesy from 2013 grew online, Hughes retorted, ‘I wasn’t lying’, prompting Hopkins to take a further swipe at his pop-star girlfriend saying: ‘No, my love. You are right. This is Twitter. And you were sharing your opinion to which you are perfectly entitled.

‘Unlike others, I accept that if you put yourself out there, not all the comments you receive will be positive.’

But what was the content of Hopkins’ original tweet about Jesy that has left fans of the singer so shocked?

What did Katie Hopkins tweet about Jesy Nelson?

In the new BBC One documentary, 28-year-old Jesy heartbreakingly reveals her battle with social media trolling and bravely shares that she attempted suicide due to the relentless online bullying she experienced.

In one scene, the documentary revisits a tweet sent by Hopkins after Jesy performed with Little Mix on the X-Factor in 2013.

Hopkins tweeted: ‘Packet Mix have still got a chubbier in their ranks. Less Little Mix. More Pick n Mix.’

Speaking about the Hopkins tweet, Jesy confessed on the show: ‘All I remember feeling at that time is, “what’s the f***ing point?”.

‘I’ve starved myself for a week and I’m still getting called fat. I could be the skinniest girl in the world and this is never going to go away.’

Watching the documentary and reacting live online to the heart-wrenching scenes, one fan tweeted: ‘@KTHopkins Katie, I hope you are feeling proud with yourself tonight after watching #OddOneOut with #JesyNelson . What you did and tweeted was despicable. But you have to live with yourself.. good luck [sic].’

Sharing a similar sentiment, another fan said: ‘I hope katie Hopkins is thoroughy ashamed of herself for fuelling what poor #jesynelson was going through. Although sadly KH was not alone in the attacks [sic].’

Jesy Nelson’s Odd One Out is now available to view on BBC iPlayer.

Post Malone Explains What Gave Him The Chills About Mac Miller's Death

Malone says the two agreed to collaborate on an album shortly before Miller’s accidental overdose.

Post Malone is looking back at his friendship with Mac Miller one year after the rapper’s tragic death.

While speaking with Zane Lowe of Beats 1 radio Friday, the singer recalled an eerie experience that occurred shortly after Miller died.

"It’s so weird," Malone began. "It was like a day, two days after he died. We were at an Airbnb in L.A. and all of a sudden the TV turns on … and it wouldn’t stop."

"We tried disconnecting it and all this," he continued. "Then we turned it off and then it came back on and I was just like, ‘This is weird. It gives me chills.’ I don’t know."

Malone also expressed that he and Miller had discussed creating an album together.

"We were sitting there playing beer pong and we were like, ‘Let’s make a f–king album.’ Then we were coming up with names."

He added of Miller, "What an incredible, honestly, what a genuine human being."

The "Wow" singer also recalled the beginning of his friendship with the late rapper.

"Mac was the first artist to get me," Malone said. "Mac was the first one that tweeted me. "It’s so weird because I listened to him since the beginning. I was like, ‘Yeah, awesome. This guy’s cool as shit.’ Then to be able to meet him and become friends with him was just like, ‘I look up to you, and now we’re sitting here playing beer pong.’"

Last September, Miller died at the age of 26 after an accidental overdose. He was found inside his San Fernando Valley home and pronounced dead at the scene.

Malone was one of the many of the celebrities who paid tribute to the "Self Care" singer after he died.

"God f–king dammit. You were such an incredible person," he wrote on Twitter after hearing the news. "You changed so many lives. Had so much love in your heart. You inspired me throughout highschool, and I wouldn’t be where I was today without you. Never a more kind and sincere and beautiful person. I f–king love you mac."

Earlier this week, shortly before the one-year anniversary of Miller’s death, the man who allegedly supplied Miller with the fentanyl-laced pills that contributed to his accidental overdose was arrested.

28-year-old Cameron James Pettit was taken into custody Wednesday for allegedly supplying Miller with counterfeit oxycodone pills that contained fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that’s 80 to 100 times stronger than morphine.

Per the 42-page criminal complaint, obtained by TMZ, federal prosecutors claim the rapper had asked Pettit for "percs" — short for Percocet, a brand-name prescription painkiller that contains acetaminophen and oxycodone — and that Pettit allegedly ended up supplying Miller with the deadly knockoff pills instead.

Josh Finally Told Liza What Everyone’s Been Thinking On ‘Younger’

Spoilers ahead for Younger Season 6. During the last Younger episode, Liza wrote a letter to Josh telling him that she cannot see him anymore out of respect for her relationship with Charles. Liza has been trying for a while to make her relationship work with Charles, but at the end of the episode Josh finally told Liza what Younger fans have been thinking all season long, or more accurately, for the entire run of the show. And it did not go well. At all.

Liza tried to just strut by Josh on the street during Diana’s bachelorette party, but he called her out as she attempted to walk away. He asked, "Seriously? You’re just going to write me a letter and then never talk to me again. That’s the plan here?"

Liza has been bending over backwards to show her feelings for Charles, but should it really be this difficult? She has been constantly reassuring him (and herself) for a long time. And finally, Josh confronted her about it. Josh asked, "Is Charles that much more important to you? Are your feelings for him that much stronger than your feelings for me?"

Liza refused to admit anything and then Josh told her what was up: "You’re scared of us. Scared of what we are and scared of what we still are. Now, you’re making the safe choice."

Josh made Liza "admit" that she loved Charles more, but it wasn’t the most believable declaration. Josh told her, "You forget, Liza, I know you. I know when you’re lying, especially to yourself. You wrote a letter to the wrong guy." She didn’t even deny that.

The episode ended with with a "Dear Charles" note, but when the camera zoomed out, it was actually Kelsey who was writing to her boss. Does this mean Charles will get a personal and professional rejection letter during the next episode? Or will Liza double down on her commitment to Charles and continue to ice out Josh?

This is the first time that Josh leveled with Liza since she started dating Charles, but fans have been very vocal about this love triangle on social media.

Liza Can’t Just "Not See Josh"

How would it make any sense for Liza to just "not see Josh" forever? He is friends with all of her friends. Plus, this show would be pretty boring if Liza actually managed to avoid him.

Charles & Liza’s Relationship Is B-O-R-I-N-G

Stability is great, but for a scripted TV show? It’s a bit of a yawn. These two just don’t have much of a spark at this point. But, Liza and Josh, on the other hand, have a strong connection.

Liza & Josh Are OTP

Yes, Liza is a fictional character, but how does she not see this? She and Josh need to get back together.

There is nothing wrong with Charles. He’s an accomplished businessman, a devoted boyfriend, and a family man. He’s just not "the one" for Liza and it is obvious to outsiders.

There is so much about Charles and Liza’s dynamic that makes sense. They are around the same age. They’re both in publishing. They have made major sacrifices for each other. There is no shortage of good things, but sometimes even the best list of attributes can only go so far. The connection between Josh and Liza goes beyond good chemistry. The depth and comfort of their relationship is undeniable…. to everyone but Liza.

What The Sony/Disney Spat Means For Spider-Man & The MCU Explained

The dispute between Sony and Disney over the screen rights to Spider-Man has got the Marvel world up in arms, but what does it all mean?

The layman would assume that Marvel owns all of the rights to the heroes it created in every way. Sadly, it’s not that simple. The screen rights to various Marvel heroes are split across various different studios. That’s why we’re yet to see the X-Men and Deadpool team up with the Avengers, and it’s also why it took Spider-Man so long to show up in the MCU.

We now know that Spidey would eventually show up in the MCU, and Tom Holland’s take on the web-slinger has now shown up in no less five of the franchise’s movies. However, you will have likely heard that we may well have seen the last of Spider-Man in the MCU. That’s due to Sony still owning the screen rights to the hero, and the studio being unable to hash out a deal with Disney, who owns the screen rights to the rest of the MCU.

Up until now, a deal was in place for Spider-Man to appear in the MCU which majorly favored Sony. Disney received just 5% of the box office for the last two solo Spidey movies, plus any merchandising money made from the flicks. Negotiations have been taking place for months during which Disney suggested a 50/50 split, but Sony wanted to continue with the deal that’s already in place.

Since no deal could be agreed, Sony has now taken its ball and gone home. That means, for the time being, Spider-Man can no longer be a part of the MCU. Awkward since Endgame and Far From Home effectively set Peter Parker up to be the Avengers’ new leader. Disney has some serious re-writing to do, and we now know why there was no mention of Spider-Man during Marvel’s big movie and TV show reveal at San Diego Comic-Con.

As for Holland and Spider-Man, right now we are faced with the not so tantalizing prospect of more Sony Spidey movies without any input from the MCU. Apparently, work will continue on the two Spider-Man movies that have been promised. How Sony will ignore everything that has come before, including the death of Tony Stark and any appearances from Nick Fury, well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

What Is An Oscar Worthy Performance In An Otherwise Just Okay Movie?

Look, there are some movies that are just not destined to be contenders for the awards season — maybe that’s due to their genre or their style or something…else — but they contain a single performance so amazing, it’s impossible to ignore.

Like, remember when Tim Roth did the absolute MOST in Tim Burton’s 2001 Planet of the Apes. He didn’t HAVE to go THAT hard…but he sure did anyway.

So, what’s an award-worthy performance that appears in an otherwise “just okay” film? The type of performance where the actor gave it their all, despite the quality of the overall film.

For instance, maybe you were blown away by James McAvoy’s multi-faceted performance in both Split and Glass.

Or perhaps you still lose sleep at night over the fact the Viola Davis is the absolute BEST part of Suicide Squad and got zero recognition.

Heck, maybe you think Natalie Portman’s emotional portrayal of Padmé Amidala was completely overshadowed by the (accidentally) hilarious nature of the Star Wars prequels.

Share the acting performance you think deserved more recognition DESPITE the film it was in and WHY you feel that way in the comments below for a chance to be featured in an upcoming BuzzFeed Community post or video!

What I Rent: Ben and Emma, £1,100 a month for a one-bedroom flat in West Norwood

Trying to find somewhere to live in London can be tough.

You’ve either got to sacrifice a lot of money, a lot of time on your commute, or your reluctance to live in a tiny box room with a rubbish toilet.

If you manage to find that magical trifecta of a nice place, a decent location, and a reasonable price, you’d better hold on to that renting opportunity, tight.

But also, we’d quite like you to share it with the world so we can see that a great place to rent in London does actually exist.

Our weekly series, What I Rent, shares these lovely places, the sh*t places, and all the properties in between so we can take a proper look at what renting is like.

Last week we were in Muswell Hill with Tessa and Rob, who pay £1,400 a month between them for a two-bedroom flat.

This time we’re hanging out with couple Ben, a 25-year-old motion graphic designer, and Emma, a 25-year-old graphic designer, who share a flat in West Norwood in London.

Hey, Ben! How much do you and Emma pay to live here?

Rent is £1,100 which we split between us, bills are around £247 a month including council tax.

We have one bedroom, a living room, a study, a bathroom, and a kitchen. So that’s five rooms and a balcony.

For the space we think it’s quite a good deal.

And you have a vegetable garden! Was that important when you were looking for a place?

Our balcony is a super important space for us in our flat, we love the outdoors and need a bit of that connection everyday.

Upon embarking on our journey into a more sustainable lifestyle we created a vegetable garden on our balcony which has helped us appreciate food a lot more.

We’ve had a decent harvest of carrots, lettuce and rocket this summer and are looking forward to growing more stuff.

How did you find the flat?

We found the flat on Rightmove, and have been here for 10 months now.

Are you happy where you live?

We are quite happy where we are.

We both love the area for its green spaces and having Brockwell, Dulwich and Crystal Palace just a short walk away is great. We’re spoilt for choice when going for the Saturday morning Parkrun.

There is a good sense of community in the area, with monthly events like the West Norwood Feast.

It’s a very convenient location with the high-street a short walk away, which has some great eateries and independent shops.

The high street seems to be always developing with new shops and our current favourite is the ‘Sustenance’ pop-up, zero waste shop.

There are also some great pubs and breweries near-by, which is always a good thing to have if you’re craft beer lovers, like us.

It’s easy to reach Clapham and Brixton by public transport so we spend a lot of time there rather than in central London.

Do you feel like you have enough space?

It’s ideal amount of space and couldn’t ask for more. Our previous flat was only a one room studio so it’s a welcome change from that.

This place gives us room to do our own thing, such as working late into the night and not disturb one another.

We also now have enough space to have friends over, with the living room doubling up as a second bedroom using our sofa bed.

What’s it like living together?

It’s awesome living together, we both chip in and help each other out with cooking and cleaning which makes life so much easier.

How have you made the flat feel like home?

Our flat came unfurnished which at first we were dubious about but quickly became excited about after moving in. Furnishing the whole place has been lots of fun!

The furniture is mostly Ikea and we costomised our wardrobe shelves to suit our needs. Our aim is to kept each room quite minimal.

We both love plants so we made sure that every room has a few plants in to liven it up a bit. You’ll also find lots of prints from local artists and friends scattered around the house.

And there are some DIY bits…

We like to save money and help the environment wherever we can and feel like upcycling is a great and creative way to do that.

We’ve been pretty lucky and managed to find a load of wooden crates last winter which we have lined and turned into our planters for growing veg.

We also stacked some palettes from my work place and then stuffed some coffee sacks with pillows to create a sofa on our balcony.

We use lots of jars in the kitchen to store pulses and grains and use them in the bathroom to store homemade cosmetics.

Do you have plans to move again?

Not anytime soon, we really enjoy where we live.

And what about buying a place?

Not a chance, the cost is way too high and we don’t like the idea of being tied down.

We’re just excited about the veg garden, honestly. Shall we have a look around?

What I Rent is a weekly series that’s out every Tuesday at 10am. Check back next week to have a nose around another rented property in London.

How to get involved in What I Rent

What I Rent is Metro.co.uk’s weekly series that takes you inside the places in London people are renting, to give us all a better sense of what’s normal and how much we should be paying.

If you fancy taking part, please email [email protected]

You’ll need to have pictures taken of your kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom, plus a few photos of you in your room. Make sure you get permission for your housemates!

You’ll also need to be okay with sharing how much you’re paying for rent, as that’s pretty important.
