Teen with rare condition walks for the first time in two-months

Girl, 13, who was left unable to walk after being struck down by a rare autoimmune condition takes her first steps in MONTHS at Great Ormond Street Hospital

  • Lola, 13, was struck down with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) earlier this year
  • The condition affects the skin and muscles and left Lola unable to walk
  • She was taken to Great Ormond Street Hospital and given physiotherapy
  • After two months of treatment she was able to walk again for the first time

A teenager who was left using a wheelchair after being struck with a rare condition is now able to walk again after undergoing round-the-clock treatment.

Lola, 13, spent weeks as a patient at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, after being diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) earlier this year.

JDM, which affects just three in one million children, is an autoimmune condition that causes inflammation in the muscle and skin. The inflammation can cause muscle weakness, which in Lola’s case was so extreme that she couldn’t walk.

The tenacious teenager and her mother Simone were visited by Paul O’Grady on last night’s episode of Paul O’Grady’s Little Heroes.

The TV crew were present as Lola took her first steps with the support of nurses following weeks of hard work and returned weeks later when she walked unaided for the first time. Her mother Simone, pictured, said she was ‘glowing’ with pride at her daughter’s progress

Paul O’Grady, mother Simone, and the GOSH staff clapped and cheered Simone after her walk

The TV crew were present as Lola took her first steps with the support of nurses following weeks of hard work and returned weeks later when she walked unaided for the first time.

Speaking about the condition, Simone explained it was ‘really scary’ to watch her fit and healthy daughter become suddenly incapacitated.

‘We didn’t know what it was and because it was so rare it took a long time for the doctors to diagnose it,’ she explained.

Lola added: ‘My muscles are really weak I can’t move. I’d rather be staying at home. I miss my cat. I haven’t seen her in ages [but] it’s not too bad I just have to deal with it.’

When Paul first visited Lola she was in a wheelchair and had been in GOSH for several weeks.  Lola was given a round-the-clock treatment plan that included medication and physiotherapy

At GOSH, Lola was given a round-the-clock treatment plan that included a mixture of medication and intensive physiotherapy.

After an initial meeting, Paul, 64, returned to watch the moment where Lola attempted her first steps in two months.

What is Juvenile Dermatomyositis?

Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) is an autoimmune condition which means that the immune system which normally protects the body reacts abnormally and becomes overactive in normal tissues.

This immune system reaction leads to inflammation (pain/redness/swelling) which can lead to possible tissue damage.

In dermatomyositis, the inflammation affects mainly the small blood vessels in muscle (myositis) and skin (dermatitis).

This inflammation may cause muscle weakness or pain and skin rashes particularly on the face, eyelids, knuckles, knees and elbows.

A nurse said: ‘What we’re going to do is help Lola do some walking for the first time for you all to see. Lola’s muscles are still really weak so we have to be careful.’

With the help of the nurse, Lola was able to walk across the gym without using her wheelchair.

Weeks later, Paul returned to check up on the teenager and discovered that her walking had some on leaps and bounds since his last visit.

Her nurse said: ‘This is the first time she’s actually walked across the gym without any support or any help.’

When the cameras visited Lola a month later, she was at home with her cat.

She said: ‘It feels great to be at home and to be able to see my cat and my family I’m doing much better now I don’t need to use the wheelchair. I’m really, really happy.’

Simone added: ‘I’m really happy with her progress she’s much stronger psychically, she’s happy, she can climb the stairs.

Weeks later, Paul returned to check up on the teenager and discovered that her walking had some on leaps and bounds since his last visit. Lola was walking without an aide (pictured)

‘I admire the strength that she’s shown for somebody so young as well she’s been amazing’.

Research on JDM is limited so the exact outcomes are not known.

Some children will have just one episode of JDM, which may last for 2-3 years and then goes away (enters what is called ‘remission’).

Other children will have disease that comes back after a prolonged period of remission.

When the cameras visited Lola a month later, she was at home with her cat, pictured, and no longer needed her wheelchair. JDM is a condition that can go into ‘remission’

Kim Kardashian Dines With Khloe Kardashian’s Ex Tristan Thompson

Oh, to be a fly on the wall! Kim Kardashian and Tristan Thompson were spotted at dinner together on Wednesday, September 11, nearly seven months after the athlete’s messy split from Khloé Kardashian.

The KKW Beauty founder, 38, and the NBA player, 28, were accompanied by La La Anthony, Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck at Estiatorio Milos in New York City, an onlooker tells Us Weekly. In photos snapped by a social media user, Kim could be seen seated right next to Thompson.

The reality star wore a sultry black ensemble while Thompson opted for a graphic sweatshirt for the outing. Cameras were on hand to capture the conversation, seemingly for the new season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Khloé ended her relationship with Thompson in February after he was spotted making out with Kylie Jenner’s former BFF Jordyn Woods. The drama came 10 months after the Cleveland Cavaliers power forward made headlines for cheating on the Revenge Body host while she was pregnant with their now-17-month-old daughter, True.

On the last season of KUWTK, Khloé’s split played out in a series of emotional episodes. The season 17 premiere of the hit E! show aired on Sunday, September 8, and showed Khloé and Thompson reunite for True’s first birthday party.

“This was such a horrible time in my life but time really does heal and help people move on,” the Strong Looks Better Naked author tweeted as she watched the episode. “Thank you for that! That saying ‘that nothing lasts forever’. Not the good, sadly, but happily, not the bad. The good will always come back.”

Despite the sticky situation, the former couple have put their differences aside for the sake of their little girl. “It’s still sometimes awkward, but I think we’re both doing a really good job,” Khloé previously told Us. “I mean, whenever he wants to see her, he can.”

Mother with cancer receives ‘sweet’ package full of false eyelashes

Mother with breast cancer praises company that makes false eyelashes for chemotherapy patients – saying it’s made her gruelling battle ‘more bearable’

  • Teresa Coulson, from Lowestoft, was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer in April
  • She was sent Eylure C-Lash designed for those having chemotherapy last month
  • Her daughter, Mollie, said the false eyelashes made her journey ‘more bearable’

The daughter of a cancer patient has revealed her mother’s journey was made ‘more bearable’ after she was sent false lashes designed for those having chemotherapy.

Mollie Ellis, from Lowestoft, took to Twitter to thank Eylure for sending pairs of adapted false lashes to her mother Teresa Coulson, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April.

The lashes, known as the C-Lash, were designed by Codilia Gapare for people who have lost their natural eyelashes after she was diagnosed with breast cancer herself in 2014.

Mollie Ellis, from Lowestoft, took to Twitter to thank Eylure for sending pairs of adapted false lashes to her mother Teresa Coulson (pictured)

According to the Eylure website, the C-lash is ‘a strip lash with a clear, self-adhesive band’ which is designed to ‘increase the stability’ of the product.

Mollie, who shared a photograph of the package alongside a note from the company, said the ‘sweet’ gesture made Teresa’s journey ‘more bearable’.

She said: ‘Mum received the sweetest package from @eyelure today, “C-lashes” specifically designed for people who have lost hair due to chemotherapy.

‘Making her journey more bearable. Thank you’.

Teresa (pictured wearing the lashes) was diagnosed with Stage 1B grade 3 breast cancer in April after finding a lump in her left breast

Speaking to FEMAIL, Mollie said her mother was ‘so overwhelmed’ when she was sent the eyelashes by surprise in the post.

‘Yeah they where sent to her by the company which is lovely, she was so overwhelmed when opening them. She wore them on Sunday,’ she said.

‘I think one of my mums friends knows one of the directors of the company and asked if they would send some over! She’s amazing – so strong’.

Mollie, who shared a photograph of the package alongside a note from the company, said the ‘sweet’ gesture made Teresa’s journey ‘more bearable’

Since her diagnosis, Teresa has undergone a lumpectomy and begun a course of chemotherapy

An accompanying photograph showed the dozen packages sent, in three different varieties, alongside a note from the company.

Teresa, who has been sharing her battle with cancer on Instagram, was diagnosed with Stage 1B grade 3 breast cancer in April after finding a lump in her left breast.

She quickly underwent a lumpectomy – a surgery to remove cancer from the breast – and has since begun a course of chemotherapy.

Teresa is now set to begin radiotherapy, which is expected to be completed in 2020.

I had a thrilling romp with a hot colleague in her car but I’m a married dad-of-two – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: A HOT girl at work gave me oral sex in her car. Now we both want to take things to the next level but I am a married dad of two – and already finding the guilt hard to bear.

I’ve been married for 12 years and we have two brilliant boys aged eight and six. I am 38 and my wife is 36. She can be hard work at times and has an acid tongue. I love her deeply but sometimes I feel like I could smother her.

This new girl started at my workplace recently and we immediately hit it off. She told me from the start she has a boyfriend but within a couple of weeks it became clear things weren’t right between them.

She began flirting with me and giving me lifts home. She is 24, slim and gorgeous. The more time we spent together, the more I started to like her.

Then she gave me a lift home one morning after a night shift. She pulled up in a lay-by on the way to my house and moved in for a kiss.

I responded and before I knew it she was unzipping my trousers and giving me oral sex. The experience was mind-blowing. We met up in her car a couple of days later and this time I gave her oral sex. It was a weird feeling of both excitement and guilt.

Now this girl is begging me to take the next step. I want to but can’t forget I’m married and a father to boot. The guilt is taking its toll on me. My wife would be so hurt.

I know she would never forgive me if she were to find out. I would lose everything — but I am so tempted, I just don’t know what to do.

MORE than one million kids live in stepfamilies – and many may see their parent’s new partner as a rival for attention.
My leaflet on Stepfamily Problems explains how to help everyone get on happily.
Email me at [email protected] or message me on Facebook for a copy.

DEIDRE SAYS: Isn’t the truth that you are being weak-willed and finding it hard to deny yourself the thrill of a fling? It is not justified just because your wife has a sharp tongue.

What you share with your colleague is exciting and secret, but it doesn’t mean it would work as a lasting relationship – especially with two children and their unhappy mother on the scene.
This initial lust will calm down and you could be left regretting ruining your life and your sons’, too.

Tell your wife you are not going to put up with any more of the acid-tongue treatment. Negotiate the boundaries of what is an acceptable way to talk to one another.
Be direct and loving but don’t accept her treating you with disrespect.

Tell your colleague your fling is over. Be civil and friendly but make your own way home, so you aren’t tempted. My e-leaflet Torn Between Two Women should help you think the situation through.

These Ballet Flats With Hundreds of Reviews Have a Hidden Secret

Sponsored content. Us Weekly receives compensation for this article as well as for purchases made when you click on a link and buy something below.

The problem with most pairs of shoes we try on is that they’re just not made to fit us or mold to our lifestyle. They expect the opposite; they want us to adjust for and adapt to them. We’re not cool with that. We need shoes that will make life easier, not ones out to slow our flow!

Naturalizer claims to be the first footwear company to design shoes specifically made to fit the contours of a woman’s foot, and is still working on perfecting the art even after an entire century. It must be pretty close to that “perfect” mark at this point, because our favorite flats from the brand seem flawless! They climbed even closer to perfection when we saw they were on sale!

See it: Get the Naturalizer Brittany flats (originally up to $70) starting at just $63 at Zappos!

These Brittany flats have hundreds of reviews and shoppers are “thinking of buying every color.” And why not? These everyday ballet flats “go with everything,” working “equally well with dresses or jeans.” We’d say they’re amazing with skirts, rompers and jumpsuits, too! Shoppers say they’re both “cute” and “professional,” and have a “surprising amount of support” that they are just loving. They “highly recommend” these flats, and they don’t have to tell Us twice!

These shoes have either a smooth leather or suede upper, depending on which one we choose. Something they all share in common, though, is a soft lining on the inside that our feet will majorly appreciate. What they’ll love even more is the N5 contour technology. The dual-density cushioning on the contoured footbed is all we could ask for when it comes to footwear, and even includes arch support!

These flats have a round toe, and back at the heel, we’ll find a singular, circular stud to add just a hint of glimmer. What we especially love about the heel, though, is something we might not notice just by looking at it. There’s actually a 1¼-inch wedge hiding under the upper! That way, we’ll get that height boost without anyone realizing that a boost was necessary!

These shoes are made with lightweight and breathable materials, taking into account that all-day wear is a whole different situation than one-hour wear. We can just slip them on and forget about them. They won’t cause us any trouble. They have a flexible, non-slip outsole that’s textured for added grip, so whether we’re headed to a meeting or running on wet ground to catch a cab, we should always make it in time!

There are currently five different versions of these Brittany flats available. If we’re in the market for a black pair, we’re in luck, because there are both leather and suede black options available! Want more suede? Check out the navy version! For more smooth leather, the café-inspired “Coffee Bean” and “Chai” shades are both beautiful!

Naturalizer’s shoes are all about finding beauty in simplicity, and we can’t imagine a better interpretation of that idea than the Brittany flats. They’re simple, but in the best way. They’re sophisticated, elegant and so charming, and they’re ready to accompany us on any adventure. Our first one? To Zappos’ checkout page!

Casualty review with spoilers: Heroic Ethan devastated by terrorist deaths

There were some horribly tense moments in tonight’s Casualty, as the team coped with the aftermath of a terrorist attack. Ethan (George Rainsford) found himself in the thick of things as he’d been training with the Advanced Trauma Team when the incident occurred so was one of the first on the scene. He faced a terrible dilemma when a father and daughter were both trapped and he had to decide which one to free first – knowing the other might not make it.

This was especially fraught given that there was a high chance of a secondary attack at any moment. The scene where sniffer dogs and bomb disposal experts found an explosive device just at the moment that it was detonated by mobile phone was incredibly tense and really well paced. The actual moment when the phone rang and the device detonated gave a real sickening lurch to the stomach as we realised that Ethan wouldn’t be able to escape.

Luckily for us, Ethan was rescued but his patient Jenny and ATT colleague Big Al died in the explosion, which was heartbreaking for Ethan. Back in the ED he looked shattered, the sheer horror of what he’d been through etched on his face. He broke the news about Jenny to her father, Andy, who was understandably upset and was angry with Ethan that he’d chosen to save him rather than his daughter. ‘If you knew what it feels like to lose everything you love…’ he said to Ethan. ‘I do know,’ Ethan replied. And he does.

Also facing a huge loss this week was Rash (Neet Mohan). No sooner had Gem managed to join him on his travels than he was forced to come home as his mother was dying. We saw him at her funeral, straight after which the news broke about the attack on the market. His father advised him not to leave the house – there were rumours it was a terrorist attack and there was a fear that, as a Muslim, Rash would be a target of suspicion. He couldn’t ignore his doctor’s training and instincts and headed for the ED. There was hardly time for anyone to even acknowledge that he’d been away before he was thrown into looking after casualties.

It looks as though Rash is returning to the ED permanently, as at the end of the episode he told his dad he wanted his old room back. He and Gem seem determined to live thousands of miles apart, one way or another.

Now Connie has gone (she’s in rehab, apparently), Dylan (William Beck) is currently in charge and one thing he’s not great at is the Motivational Team Talk, which mainly motivates his staff to boredom and doodling cartoons of him. Dylan is extremely good at being a doctor, though, and has a good line in dealing with annoying patients. ‘If you stick around you can see how we spend your money,’ he told an annoying man who was still insisting (as a taxpayer) on his minor injury being seen even though the department was being cleared for the incoming wounded.

Another minor annoyance hanging around was David’s son Ollie (Harry Collett). We never did find out the reason why he was so keen to talk to his dad (Jason Durr), as his mum turned up to take him home. Presumably he’ll be back to continue the conversation when David isn’t dealing with a Major Incident.

Sue Haasler is the author of the official Holby City book, which you can read about here. Her latest novel, Half A World Away, is out now

Beach sex with my married lover was amazing but now she’s pregnant – she should ditch her rich husband to be with me – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: FOUR years ago in Spain I met a beautiful girl who was also on holiday. We had an instant attraction and we drank beer, kissed . . . and then had sex on the beach.

I knew straight away that she was the one for me — but she told me she’d just started dating a guy back in England who is older than her and much richer than me.

“Just my luck”, I thought. We still exchanged numbers as we’re both from London and I thought that there might still be hope.

She was 22 then and I was 19. When we got back from Spain I kept messaging her and we got in the pattern of meeting for sex every couple of weeks. She was still seeing the older guy too but it seemed like she wasn’t too sure about who to be with.

I told her she should be with me. I didn’t see her for a bit, then she texted to tell me that I should forget about her as she’d married that guy. I’m not one to ever give up so I texted back saying: “One day you’ll realise you made the wrong choice. Until then I’m waiting for you.”

While I was waiting I passed the time seeing some other girls. They were keen but they didn’t come close to matching her and I knew I was just marking time.

Sure enough, she soon contacted me and we’ve been seeing each other since then, which is great, even though she is married. After all these years, she is still the one girl that I love.

She’s called to me to say that she’s pregnant and knows it’s a girl. I know in my bones I’m the dad but obviously the husband does not suspect a thing.

What do I do as I want to be there for my baby? I’m not rich but I do have a job. I love this woman so much and I know she loves me. Surely now is the time to be sharing our lives so we can be mum and dad to our own little girl.

DEIDRE SAYS: That is your dream but it isn’t what your lover wants. Sadly for you, as she isn’t your wife, you don’t hold many cards.

How do you know you’re the dad? Her husband believes that it’s him and he must know how babies are made. Is it just wishful thinking on your part, perhaps?

The one way to be sure about this is by having a DNA test when the baby is born. This can’t be done without the mother’s consent, which I doubt she’d be willing to give.

It’s time to back off from this girl. It’s not you she’s chosen to spend her life with. You’re her bit on the side, but that has been your choice.

Don’t you think you should ask yourself why you have lived for a dream, rather than choosing someone who can give all her love. Did that seem safer, perhaps?

Be glad that you’re free to move on with your life. You can also be glad that the baby will have a good home with both a mum and a dad.

Promising review: “As soon as I used this stuff, I couldn’t believe it! We had a new stove that I didn’t clean for months and assumed the burnt pea juice (my enemy) would just be a new stain forever. However, after one application, it was basically gone. I used the scraper that came with it and did one more small application on just that spot, and it was gone! Every time I use this it looks like my stove could be brand new.” —Christi Lambertson

3.A six-pack of dishwasher cleaning tablets so the machine you rely on to clean the things you use to eat isn’t gunking them up even more.

These tablets remove odor-causing residue and help get rid of lime and mineral build-up that naturally occurs inside dishwashers. The tablet is designed to last throughout the entire wash cycle, and is recommended for use about once a month. These are safe to use in stainless steel tub and plastic tub dishwashers.

Promising review: “After using this product, I am happy to report that my $5 investment saved me over $500. I was ready to replace my dishwasher due to super cloudy glasses, residue, and just not getting clean. Then, I became aware that the water softener no longer was doing its job, so I had the rental company replace it. Dishwasher performance improved somewhat. I decided to do two more loads before deciding to purchase a new one. Then I saw a product test review for Affresh in a magazine. I was ordering some stuff from Amazon anyway, so I added that to my order. When it came, I tossed one of the tablets into the bottom of the full machine, per instructions, and ran the regular cycle. I did not expect the results I got! My glassware that I thought was permanently etched and ruined came out like new. Same with cutlery. The difference is unbelievable. I will use this faithfully on a monthly basis, as recommended. I can even put it on my subscribe and save order, so I will get a new pack every six months. I am amazed!” —Sheila

Get them from Amazon for $4.44.

4.A salad spinner that’ll make cleaning your greens and other produce as easy as the literal push of a button. Then you can lift up the colander, drain the water, put it back into the clear outer bowl, and voilà, you have a pretty serving bowl as well!

Features a soft, non-slip knob that locks down for easy storage, and a non-slip ring and wide base to prevent it slipping off the counter. The clear bowl part can be used for serving, while the basket can be used as a colander. All parts are BPA-free, and can be disassembled. This is top rack–dishwasher safe!

Promising review: “I LOVE this salad spinner! It has become an essential item in my kitchen. I can now easily throw together a salad very quickly. I’ve used it for rinsing and spinning a variety of lettuces, and they all have come out beautifully clean and crisp. I’ve also used the spinner for cherry and grape tomatoes, as well as berries. I am definitely eating more salad now than I was before. The prep is SO much simpler with this spinner. The spinner is the size of a large salad bowl, and it does take up space in the kitchen. I made room for it on my utility cart, though, because it is well worth it to have it handy.” —Janice

Get it from Amazon for $29.99.

5.A rapid egg cooker for preparing a wide variety of eggs — hard-boiled, poached, scrambled, and omelets — how EGGciting!!!

Features an auto-shutoff function! It can boil up to six eggs at a time, poach up to two eggs at a time, or make an omelet! Includes a poaching tray, and omelet tray, a six-egg holder tray, a measuring cup, a recipe book, and access to a recipe database. All non-electric parts are dishwasher-safe! And be sure to check out our write-up of this awesome egg cooker!

Promising review: “I don’t like watching my pot to find out when the water starts boiling, so I bought this. It delivers perfect eggs by steaming them until the water placed in the device has evaporated. The exact amount of water is added to the cooker before it steams the eggs — there is a measuring line on the plastic cup that comes with the device. Next to each measuring line are the following words: ‘hard boiled, soft boiled, poached, etc.’ Fill the cup with water to the line for the egg type you want, and then add the water to the device. Then simply puncture each egg with a spike that is attached to the measuring cup, place the eggs in the device with the hole on top (duh). You close it, press the button on front and walk away. When an alarm sounds, it turns off automatically. Your eggs are done. No need to watch water boil. No need for daily cleaning. It’s quite small. Love this thing. For the price, what’s not to like?” —SunscreenAl

Get it from Amazon for $18.57+ (available in five colors).

Promising review: “These are fantastic! I have been getting into baking cookies with my daughter lately and I just can’t get over the fact that these SilPat Silicone Mats produce perfect looking cookies every time. I had previously purchased two from Williams-Sonoma so I was happy to see that Amazon carried the same brand. Now we bake a ton of cookies all at the same time and they all come out looking amazing!” —Kindle Customer

Promising review: “I could not get my flatware to come out clean from the dishwasher and I wondered if it was the hard water. I was using up to three soap blocks in each load with only partial improvement. I used this the first time and voilà! Perfectly clean flatware for the first time. I LOVE this!” —Susan A

Get it from Amazon for $5.97.

8.An adjustable rack for keeping all of your under-the-sink items accessible and orderly.

Has an expandable rail, and four adjustable height levels.

Promising review: “I was super impressed with the quality of this item. It did not fit under my sink as I was hoping, but that was my fault as I didn’t measure before ordering. But what’s great about this item is that it is adjustable in many ways and I was still able to finagle it to meet my needs. You are able to adjust the height of the shelves to three different heights. And then it also adjusts in width to your precise needs. ” —staceym

Promising review: “This rack is perfect. I put my largest skillet on the bottom and smallest at the top. I did not secure the rack with the screws that came with it, so I can easily move it if I re-arrange my pots and pans area. Even without securing it to the cabinet, it works perfectly and doesn’t shift when I remove a pan. I will be buying another one of these for our cabin. These containers feature FreshVent technology to regulate oxygen and carbon dioxide flow, as well as a CrispTray to help keep moisture away. These are dishwasher-safe! Read our write-up of these wonderful food storage containers.

Promising review: “I wish I’d have gotten these sooner. I’m a vegetarian, so I eat a lot of produce anyway, and recently my husband has started eating healthier, so we eat even more. I bought strawberries for my children, and then I forgot about them. I found them in the back of the refrigerator in these containers almost TWO WEEKS later, and they were still good. These keep blackberries for a really long time. Lettuce (even washed and cut up) has lasted close to three weeks. The real miracle is how long they keep zucchini. Zucchini starts to get mushy in the crisper drawer after just a few days, but these miracle containers have kept it fresh for close to two weeks now. I’ve kept cut cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumbers, sliced bell peppers, cut jicama, and carrots in these containers. I’ve had fantastic results with all of them.” —Laura

I heated it up a little past the recommended time, set a timer for five minutes, used tongs to lift up the compartments and whaddya know! A perfect, cute little sandwich! I pulled it out with a plastic spatula and set it on a tiny cookie rack to cool so the bottom wouldn’t get soggy. Nothing leaked, nothing stuck. Very compact and tidy. Let the contraption cool, then rinse and wipe.” —Amazoniac

I typically avoid making any food that has cheese mixed into it, but now I can make him a section without cheese, and the rest of us our regular cheesy goodness. Another benefit to this pan is how well the portions slice. One cut with the spatula gives you a perfectly formed square. They are super sharp, versatile, and the guards are nice so I can keep the knives in a drawer. I still have the knife block but I use these most of the time. The fun colors are a plus and the price can’t be beat. Although I’m not much of a cook, I think these are still plenty sufficient for most kitchens. It’s a bummer having to hand-wash them, but that’s a first-world problem in the first degree. This would be an ideal gift for a new graduate/college student/housewarming.” —theworldofdale

It’s been a while since I’ve heard my husband complain about the tupperware cabinet in general, so for that reason alone I’m glad I purchased this, lol.” —KB

Promising review: “I was so bummed when I scratched up my pretty white sink with pots and pans. I thought I’d need to have it replaced or try to sand it and refinish it somehow, but I bought this stuff as a last ditch effort to fix it myself. It takes some elbow grease to make them go away, the scratches don’t just wipe off. But if you scrub at them for a few minutes they melt away pretty quickly. After two rounds my sink looks nearly brand new again. It also worked on a few mineral stains in my bathtub that I thought were permanent after soft scrub failed to remove them. Again, a little of this stuff, the scrubby side of a blue sponge, a little bit of effort and they were gone!” —Dan Borden
